Senior Account Executive

A Senior Accountant manages an organization's complex financial operations, general ledger, and reporting functions. Their core duties include leading month-end and year-end close processes, reconciling accounts, analyzing budget-to-actual variances, ensuring regulatory tax and accounting compliance (e.g., GAAP, local tax laws), and mentoring junior accounting staff.

The specific roles and responsibilities of a Senior Accountant span several key pillars of an organization's financial health:

1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Close Processes: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and closing journal entries.
• Variance Analysis: Compile budget-vs-actual reports and analyze General Ledger (GL) accounts to interpret the company's financial status.
• Forecasting: Assist management with forecasting expenditures, revenue projections, and strategic financial plannin

2. Accounting Controls & Reconciliation

• Balance Sheet Integrity: Manage and reconcile complex balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Internal Controls: Develop and enforce financial policies and standard procedures to strengthen internal controls and mitigate risk.
• Sub-ledgers: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset ledgers.

3. Auditing & Tax Compliance

• Audit Preparation: Coordinate and compile documentation for both internal and external audits.
• Taxation: Support tax compliance by preparing sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate tax returns, working alongside external tax accountants where required.
• Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all financial transactions align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or local statutory compliance requirements.

4. Leadership & Systems Optimization

• Team Supervision: Delegate tasks, provide training, and supervise junior accounting staff, bookkeepers, and analysts.
• Process Improvement: Identify system inefficiencies and suggest/implement technology improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
