Location: Ayaansh Fertility Centre, AFKP – Kharadi, Pune

Department: Operation Theatre / IVF Procedure Room / Anesthesia Support

Reporting To: Centre Head / OT In-charge / Clinical Director / Operations Manager

Employment Type: Full-time

1. Position Summary

Ayaansh Fertility Centre, AFKP is looking for a trained OT cum Anesthesia Technician to support smooth, safe and protocol-driven functioning of the Operation Theatre, IVF procedure room and anesthesia-related services. The candidate should be capable of assisting during OPU, embryo transfer, hysteroscopy, minor OT procedures and anesthesia cases, while ensuring strict infection control, equipment readiness and emergency preparedness.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. OT Preparation and Procedure SupportPrepare OT/procedure room before every case as per SOP.

1. Ensure OT table, lights, suction, cautery, monitors, oxygen supply and emergency equipment are functional.
2. Assist doctors during OPU, embryo transfer, hysteroscopy, diagnostic and minor operative procedures.
3. Maintain sterile field and ensure proper aseptic precautions.
4. Assist in patient positioning, draping and transfer.
5. Coordinate with nursing, embryology, pharmacy and front office teams for smooth patient movement.
6. Ensure procedure-wise instruments, disposables and consumables are ready before patient entry.

B. Anesthesia AssistanceAssist anesthetist before, during and after anesthesia/sedation.

1. Check anesthesia machine, circuits, laryngoscope, AMBU bag, masks, airways, suction and oxygen backup daily.
2. Prepare anesthesia drugs, syringes, IV fluids and emergency medications under supervision.
3. Assist in IV cannulation, monitoring and airway support as required.
4. Monitor and document vitals during and after procedures as instructed.
5. Ensure readiness of crash cart and emergency airway equipment at all times.
6. Support safe patient recovery and handover to recovery/nursing team.

C. Equipment and Instrument ManagementEnsure daily checking and documentation of OT/anesthesia equipment.

1. Maintain instrument sets, trays, scopes and procedure-specific kits.
2. Coordinate sterilization, autoclaving, fumigation/fogging and biomedical waste disposal.
3. Report equipment malfunction immediately to OT in-charge/operations team.
4. Maintain preventive maintenance records and coordinate with vendors/biomedical team.

D. Infection Control and SafetyFollow strict infection control protocols, including hand hygiene, PPE and sterile precautions.

1. Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection and terminal cleaning of OT/procedure rooms.
2. Maintain biomedical waste segregation as per rules.
3. Ensure linen, mops, sterile packs and cleaning materials are used appropriately.
4. Participate in infection control audits and corrective action implementation.

E. Documentation and Stock ManagementMaintain OT registers, anesthesia checklists, equipment checklists and procedure records

1. Track OT consumables, anesthesia drugs, emergency drugs and sterile items.
2. Inform pharmacy/stores in advance for replenishment.
3. Maintain expiry checks for emergency drugs, disposables and sterile packs.
4. Support NABH/ART/PCPNDT and internal audit documentation wherever applicable.

F. Patient Care and Professional ConductReceive patients respectfully and ensure comfort and privacy.

1. Support pre-procedure and post-procedure patient movement.
2. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
3. Communicate politely with patients, doctors and staff.
4. Remain calm and responsive during emergencies.

3. Qualification RequiredDiploma/Certificate in OT Technology, Anesthesia Technology, Operation Theatre Technician course, or equivalent recognized training.

A. B.Sc. OT Technology / B.Sc. Anesthesia Technology preferred.

B. BLS training preferred; ACLS exposure will be an added advantage.

4. Experience RequiredMinimum 2–4 years’ experience as OT Technician / Anesthesia Technician.

A.Experience in fertility centre, IVF OT, gynecology OT, day-care surgery centre or hospital OT preferred.

B. Should have hands-on experience in assisting anesthesia/sedation cases.

5. Skills and CompetenciesGood knowledge of OT protocols and sterile practices.

a.Ability to assist during anesthesia and emergency situations.

b.Familiarity with anesthesia machine, multipara monitor, suction, oxygen systems and emergency airway equipment.

c.Good documentation discipline.

d.Ability to coordinate with doctors, embryologists, nurses, pharmacy and operations team.

e.Punctual, disciplined and dependable.

f.Willingness to work flexible hours depending on procedure schedule.

g.Calm, alert and patient-friendly attitude.

E.No avoidable delays due to OT/anesthesia preparation gaps.

F.Proper stock monitoring and expiry control.

7. Working Hours: As per centre timings and procedure schedule. Flexibility required for early morning OPU/IVF procedures, emergency cases and extended OT hours when needed.

8. Preferred Candidate Profile: A sincere, well-trained and responsible OT cum Anesthesia Technician who understands fertility centre workflow, maintains high standards of safety and sterility, and can independently ensure OT/anesthesia readiness while working closely with the clinical and operations teams.
