Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Purchase Officer/Procurement Engineer with an Engineering background to manage the complete procurement cycle. The candidate will be responsible for vendor identification, supplier development, obtaining quotations, preparing comparison statements, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely procurement of materials required for project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Purchasing
Handle end-to-end procurement activities for construction, fabrication, PEB, structural steel, industrial, and project-related materials.
Receive material requisitions from project and engineering teams.
Obtain quotations from multiple vendors and suppliers.
Prepare detailed Comparative Statements (CS) for technical and commercial evaluation.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions with vendors.
Generate Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure proper documentation.
Vendor Development & Management
Search and identify new vendors/suppliers across India.
Develop and maintain a reliable vendor database.
Evaluate suppliers based on quality, pricing, delivery performance, and service.
Conduct vendor registration and qualification processes.
Maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
Coordination & Follow-up
Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Stores, Accounts, and Site Teams.
Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery of materials.
Resolve procurement-related issues and expedite urgent requirements.
Monitor order status and maintain procurement schedules.
Cost Control & Reporting
Analyze market trends and material price fluctuations.
Achieve cost savings through effective negotiations and sourcing strategies.
Maintain procurement records, reports, and MIS.
Prepare procurement status reports and management updates.
Documentation & Compliance
Ensure proper documentation of quotations, comparison sheets, POs, invoices, and delivery records.
Verify technical specifications before procurement.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Additional certification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement will be preferred.
Experience
Minimum 3–7 years of experience in Procurement/Purchase.
Experience in Construction, PEB, Structural Steel, Industrial Projects, Fabrication, or Manufacturing Industry preferred.
Proven experience in vendor sourcing, negotiation, and procurement planning.
Required Skills
Strong vendor sourcing and supplier development skills.
Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
Knowledge of construction and engineering materials.
Ability to prepare comparison sheets and procurement reports.
Good understanding of technical drawings, BOQs, and material specifications.
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, ERP/SAP (preferred).
Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Timely procurement of materials.
Cost savings achieved through negotiations.
Vendor development and database expansion.
On-time delivery performance.
Accuracy of comparison statements and procurement documentation.
Reduction in procurement lead time.
