Qualification- Diploma/ B-tech in Mechanical Engineering

Location- Kathwada GIDC, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 

Job Summary

The Sr. Purchase Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing procurement activities related to mechanical components, raw materials, equipment, and services. The role focuses on cost optimization, supplier management, quality assurance, and timely availability of materials to support production and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for mechanical components, raw materials, and capital equipment
• Source, evaluate, negotiate, and finalize contracts with suppliers and vendors
• Ensure timely procurement of materials in line with production schedules and project timelines
• Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain risks in the mechanical and engineering sector
• Maintain strong relationships with approved vendors and identify alternative suppliers when required
• Ensure purchased materials meet technical specifications, quality standards, and compliance requirements
• Coordinate with engineering, production, quality, and stores departments
• Control procurement costs and contribute to budgeting and cost-reduction initiatives
• Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock
• Handle vendor performance evaluation, audits, and corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO standards, and statutory regulations
• Prepare procurement reports, MIS, and documentation for management review

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field
• Additional certification in procurement or supply chain (preferred)

Experience

• 3-10 years of experience in purchasing/procurement within the mechanical, manufacturing, or engineering industry
• Strong exposure to sourcing mechanical parts and industrial materials

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Good understanding of mechanical drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards
• Proficiency in ERP systems ST - ERP
• Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
