Business Development Manager (BDM)

Job Summary

The Hydro-Mechanical Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, bidding on, and securing contracts for dam gates, water control systems, and associated hydraulic actuation equipment. Bridging the gap between complex structural engineering and commercial business development, requiring the ability to interpret hydrologic tender specifications, build relationships with government water boards/EPC firms, and coordinate with internal design teams to submit winning technical and commercial proposals.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Lead Generation

• Tender Management: Track, analyze, and screen global and domestic government tenders (e.g., Ministry of Water Resources, World Bank-funded dam rehabilitation projects).
• EPC Partnering: Build strategic relationships with large infrastructure and EPC contractors to ensure your equipment is factored into their primary bids.
• Client Consultation: Meet with dam authorities, plant owners, and civil consultants during the pre-specification phase to influence the design criteria in favor of your company’s product offerings.

Technical Pre-Sales & Estimation

• RFx Processing: Review complex Request for Proposals (RFPs) and technical data sheets detailing water head pressures, discharge rates, sealing requirements, and site geographies.
• Costing & Estimation: Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to estimate raw material costs, manufacturing labor, transport of oversized components, and on-site installation/commissioning.
• Technical Proposals: Draft comprehensive technical bids outlining gate configurations (Radial/Tainter gates, Slide gates, Roller gates), sealing systems (Neoprene/Mueller rubber), and actuation systems (Hydraulic cylinders vs. electromechanical wire-rope hoists).

Required Product Portfolio

• Gates: Radial/Tainter Gates (spillways), Vertical Lift Sluice Gates, Fixed-Wheel Gates, and Stoplogs (for dewatering).
• Trash Racks & Cleaners: Systems to prevent debris from choking water intakes and turbines.
• Actuation Systems: Heavy-duty Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs), high-tonnage single/double-acting cylinders, and electrical wire-rope winches.

Education & Experience

• Degrees: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Hydraulics or MBA in Marketing or International Business
• Experience: 5 to 10+ years in technical B2B sales or estimation, explicitly within heavy engineering, heavy steel fabrication, valves, or hydropower sectors. 

Technical Skills

• Engineering Literate: Ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints, structural drawings, and hydraulic circuit schematics.
• Software: Basic viewer proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
