HVAC Design Engineer

An HVAC Design & Estimation Engineer is responsible for designing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and preparing cost estimates and technical proposals for projects.

Job Description

Position: HVAC Design & Estimation Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Design HVAC systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and healthcare buildings.

Perform cooling and heating load calculations using industry standards (such as ASHRAE).

Prepare HVAC layouts, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and equipment selection.

Develop BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and material take-offs from drawings.

Estimate project costs for equipment, materials, labor, and installation.

Prepare technical and commercial proposals and tender documents.

Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, structural engineers, and clients.

Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents.

Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards.

Support project execution teams with technical clarifications.

Required Skills

Knowledge of HVAC systems (VRF/VRV, Chillers, AHU, FCU, Ventilation, Ducting, and Piping).

Load calculation and equipment selection.

Estimation and cost analysis.

AutoCAD proficiency.

Knowledge of software such as HAP, Carrier HAP, Revit MEP, or similar HVAC design tools.

Good understanding of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and local building codes.

Strong communication and analytical skills.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

Typically 0–2 years for junior roles, 3–5 years for mid-level roles, and 5+ years for senior positions.
