Job Description: Production Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Production Engineer to oversee and optimize our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for executing production schedules, ensuring high-quality fabrication and machining of pharmaceutical equipment, and effectively managing shopfloor manpower.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical expertise in Stainless Steel (SS) fabrication, a strong understanding of machining processes, and excellent leadership skills to drive shopfloor efficiency while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

·        Plan, schedule, and execute daily production targets in alignment with project timelines.

·        Supervise the fabrication and assembly of pharmaceutical equipment (e.g., blenders, granulators, mills etc.).

·        Monitor machining operations (grinding, buffing) to ensure components meet exact technical drawings and specifications.

2. Shopfloor & Manpower Management

·           Efficiently allocate work to a team of fitters, welders, machinists, and technicians.

·           Maintain high morale, discipline, and productivity on the shopfloor.

·           Identify skill gaps and provide necessary on-the-job training to workforce operators.

3. Quality Assurance & Technical Compliance

·          Ensure all fabrication work, especially TIG/MIG welding on Stainless Steel (SS 316L/304), meets finish and hygienic standards required for the pharma industry (cGMP compliance).

·          Conduct stage-wise inspections of components to minimize rework and rejection rates.

·          Interpret complex engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing layouts.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Experience:

·          1 to 5 years of core experience in production/manufacturing, ideally within a pharmaceutical equipment, food processing machinery, or process equipment manufacturing environment.

Education:

·           B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.

Technical Skills Required:

·          SS Fabrication Expertise: Strong knowledge of Stainless Steel grades (SS304, SS316L), welding techniques (TIG/MIG), sheet metal forming, and finishing/polishing processes.

·          Machining Operations: Sound understanding of grinding and buffing processes.

·          Drawing Reading: Exceptional ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Soft Skills:

·          Strong leadership and people management skills to handle a diverse shopfloor workforce.

·          Excellent problem-solving ability and pressure handling capacity.

·          Good communication and coordination skills to liaise with Design, Quality, and Purchase departments.
