Safety Officer

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Safety Officer with strong EHS knowledge to ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and statutory requirements in a printing and packaging manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, promoting a safe work culture, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironment, Health & Safety (EHS)Implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and standards across the plant.
• Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations.
• Monitor workplace safety performance and develop preventive measures.
• Maintain EHS records, reports, permits, and statutory documentation.
• Safety ManagementConduct routine safety inspections, audits, and safety observations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions and prepare reports.
• Monitor usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance.
• Implement Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for hot work, confined space entry, electrical work, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure proper machine guarding and safe operating practices.
• Fire & Emergency PreparednessConduct emergency preparedness drills, evacuation exercises, and mock drills.
• Inspect and maintain firefighting equipment, hydrants, extinguishers, and alarm systems.
• Train employees on fire prevention and emergency response procedures.
• Environmental ManagementEnsure proper storage, handling, and disposal of inks, solvents, adhesives, chemicals, and hazardous waste.
• Monitor waste management, pollution control measures, and environmental compliance.
• Support sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives.
• Training & AwarenessConduct safety induction training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Organize toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness programs.
• Promote safety culture and employee participation in safety initiatives.
• Printing & Packaging Industry-Specific ResponsibilitiesMonitor safety practices related to printing presses, laminators, slitters, die-cutting machines, compressors, DG sets, and material handling equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of flammable inks, solvents, coatings, adhesives, and chemicals.
• Monitor Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) implementation during maintenance activities.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to fire, chemical exposure, moving machinery, and electrical hazards.
• QualificationsDiploma / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
• Diploma or PG Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institution.
• Experience3–8 years of experience in EHS and industrial safety, preferably in Printing, Packaging, Flexible Packaging, Labels, Corrugation, FMCG, or Manufacturing industries.
• Experience in handling statutory inspections, audits, and safety management systems.
• Responsible for Insite Accident and report to according and further Need.
