Job Description
Position Title-Quality Control Engineer
Department-Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Reports To-Quality Manager / Head of Quality
Job Summary-
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and manufacturing processes meet established quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role involves developing inspection procedures, conducting quality audits, analyzing defects, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
- Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and inspection plans.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final product inspections.
- Analyze quality data and identify trends, defects, and areas for improvement.
- Investigate customer complaints, non-conformities, and quality issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, reports, and inspection records.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Conduct internal quality audits and support external/customer audits.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Monitor calibration of measuring instruments and testing equipment.
- Train production personnel on quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–6 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or Manufacturing Quality.
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, engineering, fabrication, machining, or industrial production environments preferred.
- Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 standards.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Hands-on experience with measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Bore Gauge
- Dial Indicator
- Surface Plate
- CMM (preferred)
- Knowledge of:
- SPC (Statistical Process Control)
- 7 QC Tools
- FMEA
- Control Plans
- PPAP
- MSA
- CAPA
- Root Cause Analysis (5 Why, Fishbone Diagram)
- Familiarity with ERP systems and MS Office applications.
- Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Reduction in product defects and rework.

- First Pass Yield (FPY) improvement.
- Reduction in rejection and scrap rates.
- Timely implementation of corrective actions.

- May require rotational shifts and occasional travel for supplier/customer visits.
