Job Purpose:

Lead the structural design efforts for highway projects, ensuring adherence to standards, safety, and environmental considerations. Supervise the design activities with consultants and internal teams, ensuring quality and timely deliverables. Optimize costs and integrate innovative technologies to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring robust project outcomes.

Structural Design and Development:

• Carry out the preparation of basic and detailed engineering work for highway projects related to associated structures, both for pre-bid and construction stages.

• Ensure that the structure design aspects for highways incorporate economy, safety measures, and environmental considerations as stipulated.

• Make necessary structure design changes as per requirement for projects under construction.

• Implement proper document management systems for all structural design documents.

• Ensure standardization of designs as per codal norms and specification.

 

Team Supervision and Coordination:

• Monitor the design activity carried out by the consultants, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

• Oversee the working of the structure design crew, assigning tasks, instructing procedures, and ensuring the orderly progress of the project.

• Coordinate ongoing and pre-bid projects from structural aspects with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants and client representatives.

• Supervise the revision of drawings for projects that are let to contract.

 

Project Management and Documentation:

• Ensure cost-optimization through design aspects in the overall business delivery.

• Review Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for all structures related to highway projects and provide technical inputs to the bidding team for the finalization of BOQ.

• Participate in the standardization of processes and formats to improve efficiency and consistency in design work.

• Gather information on industry trends, market conditions, and competitors and use them during design and engineering processes.

• Initiate the incorporation of state-of-the-art technology in projects wherever possible.

• Interact with consultants and client representatives for the approval of designs.

• Ensure that all project-related documentation is managed and maintained accurately and efficiently.
