Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Supervisor

Job Summary

The Assistant Cook helps in the preparation of meals, maintains kitchen cleanliness, and ensures ingredients and equipment are ready for cooking. This role is essential in supporting efficient kitchen operations and maintaining food quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients
• Support the cook/chef in cooking and assembling dishes
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or instructions
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, utensils, and workstations
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
• Ensure food is stored properly and safely
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., proper food handling, sanitation)
• Help with receiving and storing food supplies
• Dispose of kitchen waste properly
• Assist in serving food when needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of cooking and food preparation
• Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
• Good hygiene and cleanliness practices
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Teamwork and communication skills
• Physical stamina (standing for long periods, lifting items)
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required)

• Work in a hot, busy kitchen environment

Optional / Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting
• Basic food safety Knowledge
