Job Summary

The NPD Lead will own the entire lifecycle of new luxury furniture from a finalized 3D design concept to a commercially viable product on the showroom floor. You will engineer internal wooden/metal structural framing, calculate exact material consumption costs, establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the factory floor, and ensure that every new model achieves Ovion's benchmark for premium durability and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Design to Production Translation: Take 3D CAD renders from designers and engineer the internal mechanics, hardwood joinery, and foam-layering layouts.
• Prototyping & Sampling: Lead the sample-making department to build the first physical mock-ups, troubleshooting manufacturing bottlenecks in real-time.
• Costing & Bill of Materials (BOM): Create precise, itemized BOMs for every new product, detailing wood volume, hardware, custom foam cuts, and exact genuine leather hide square footage.
• Vendor & Mechanism Sourcing: Source, evaluate, and test new hardware, custom-molded foams, and mechanical components (like motorized recliner systems).
• Mass Production Handover: Develop clear assembly blueprints, manufacturing SOPs, and quality control checklists for the Production Supervisor to smoothly execute batch manufacturing.
• Testing & Quality Benchmarking: Subject new prototypes to rigorous structural stability, weight-bearing, and leather tension tests to guarantee long-term durability.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering, or a specialized Diploma in Furniture Technology.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360 for structural design and internal mechanism modeling.
• Material Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of wood seasoning, plywood grading, metal framing, polyurethane (PU) foam densities, and leather stretching coefficients.
• Methodologies: Strong grip on Value Engineering (VE), Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), and cost-optimization principles.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional project management capabilities, cost-analytical mindset, and assertive cross-functional leadership across design and factory teams.
