Role Overview
As a Sr. Academic Counsellor, you will manage a pipeline of cold calls, counsel students on program fitment, and own your admission targets end to end converting intent into well-informed enrollment decisions through clarity, not pressure.
This is a calling-heavy role. You will be on the phone for a significant part of your day. If that's not something you're comfortable with, this role is not for you.
What you will do
Handle inbound leads generated through digital campaigns and counsel prospective students on program options, eligibility, fees, and career outcomes
Make outbound follow-up calls to leads within defined SLA timelines — first call within 2 hours of lead submission
Understand the student's background, goals, and concerns, and map them to the right program and university
Manage your pipeline on CRM — update lead status, call notes, and follow-up dates daily without exception
Meet monthly admission targets assigned by your team lead
Coordinate with students through the documentation and fee payment process until enrollment is confirmed
Stay current on program details, fee structures, intake dates, and university updates across the portfolio
What we're looking for
2–5 years of experience in inside sales, admissions counselling, or a phone-based customer-facing role
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets consistently
Strong verbal communication — clear, confident, and fluent in English; working knowledge of Hindi or a South Indian language is a plus
Comfortable making 150–250 calls per day and sustaining energy and quality across those calls
Organized — able to manage a pipeline of 150+ leads without dropping follow-ups
Coachable — willing to take feedback on call quality and iterate quickly
Prior experience in EdTech, higher education, or financial services sales is preferred but not mandatory
