Job Summary

The Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer vehicles according to manufacturer standards. The role involves performing routine maintenance, identifying mechanical and electrical faults, carrying out repairs efficiently, and ensuring high-quality workmanship while maintaining safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Diagnosis & RepairInspect vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
• Perform accurate diagnosis using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Repair and replace faulty components, assemblies, and systems.
• Conduct engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake, and electrical repairs.
• Carry out periodic maintenance services as per manufacturer guidelines.

Preventive Maintenance

Perform scheduled servicing including:

• Engine oil and filter replacement
• Air, fuel, and cabin filter replacement
• Brake inspection and servicing
• Wheel alignment and balancing (where applicable)
• Battery inspection and replacement
• Coolant, transmission, and brake fluid replacement

• Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed within standard repair times.
• Technical OperationsRead and interpret repair manuals, technical bulletins, wiring diagrams, and workshop manuals.
• Use diagnostic scanners and specialized workshop equipment effectively.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and quality standards.
• Test drive vehicles (if authorized) before and after repairs to verify concerns.
• Quality AssuranceEnsure repairs are completed right the first time.
• Conduct final quality inspection before vehicle delivery.
• Maintain accurate repair records and job card updates.
• Minimize repeat repairs through proper diagnosis.

• Workshop Safety
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work bays.
• Properly handle workshop tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
• Report any unsafe conditions immediately.
• Customer SupportExplain technical issues to the Service Advisor when required.
• Support Service Advisors in providing repair estimates.
• Assist in resolving customer concerns through accurate technical information.
• Inventory & ToolsMaintain personal tools in good working condition.
• Ensure proper use and care of workshop equipment.
• Report damaged or missing tools.
• Assist in maintaining spare parts accountability during repairs.
• Required QualificationsITI / Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Certification from recognized automotive institutions is an added advantage.
• Valid Driving License (preferred).

• ExperienceFreshersITI/Diploma graduates with internship or apprenticeship experience.
• Experienced 06 months of experience in an authorized dealership or multi-brand workshop.
• Experience with passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, or two-wheelers (as applicable).
