CNC Machine Operator

Job Summary:

Detail-oriented CNC Operator to manage machine setups, tooling parameters, and high-

precision part production. In this role, he will be responsible for preparing CNC machinery for

operation, selecting appropriate tools, conducting quality inspections, and troubleshooting

technical issues on the floor. His focus will be on maintaining strict operational controls and

meeting exact part quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. CNC Machine Setup & Parameter Settings

 Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing

instructions.

 Prepare and load raw materials into CNC machines using appropriate fixtures and

work holding devices.

 Set up initial machine parameters, work coordinates, and offsets based on specific

program requirements.

 Upload, verify, and make minor edits to CNC programs to ensure correct machining

paths.

2. Tooling Selection & Arrangement

 Install the correct cutting tools, inserts, and holders for each specific job.

 Load tools into the machine magazine and carefully input accurate tool length and

diameter offsets.

 Inspect tools for wear or damage before and during production, replacing them to

prevent part defects.

3. Individual Part Inspection & Quality Requirements

 Conduct first-piece inspections and regular in-process checks on individual parts.

 Measure part dimensions accurately using micrometres, calipers, height gauges, and

bore gauges.

 Ensure all outputs strictly adhere to engineering tolerances, surface finish

requirements, and quality standards.

 Document inspection results on quality control logs and isolate any non-conforming

or defective parts immediately.

4. Process Troubleshooting & Operational Controls

 Monitor machine operations continuously to detect unusual sounds, vibrations, or

deviations in performance.

 Diagnose and troubleshoot process errors, adjusting feeds, speeds, or fluid levels as

needed.

 Maintain strict operational controls by following safety protocols and standard

operating procedures (SOPs).

 Perform routine daily maintenance on machines, including clearing chips and

checking coolant and lubricant levels.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

 Proven experience as a CNC Operator, Setup Technician, or in a similar precision

machining role.

 Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and geometric

dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

 Proficient in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometres, gauges).

 Solid understanding of cutting tool materials, geometry, and appropriate speeds and

feeds.

 Basic knowledge of G-code and M-code programming and machine control

interfaces.

 Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to workshop safety and

quality.
