Cost Estimation Engineer

A Construction Cost Estimation Engineer is responsible for estimating the total cost of construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, materials, labour, equipment, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Study architectural and structural drawings, BOQs, and specifications.

Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, finishing works.

Calculate quantities from drawings (Quantity Take-Off).

Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and rate analysis.

Collect quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

Prepare tender documents and bid submissions.

Compare project budgets with actual site expenses.

Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams.

Monitor material consumption and project costs.

Prepare monthly cost reports and project cash flow statements.

Required Skills:

Knowledge of construction materials and methods.

Quantity surveying and estimation skills.

Understanding of BOQ, tendering, and billing processes.

Good knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, and estimation software.

Ability to read construction drawings.

Strong analytical and calculation skills.

Communication and negotiation skills.

Commonly used software:

AutoCAD

PlanSwift

Primavera / MS Project

Revit (basic knowledge preferred)

CostX or estimation software

Qualification

B.E / B.Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering.

4–5 years experience in estimation or quantity surveying preferred.

Salary Range

Experienced: ₹25,000 – ₹35,000/month (depends on company and experience)
