Job Summary

The DG Operator is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance

of Diesel Generator (DG) sets to ensure uninterrupted power supply during mains power

failure. The role includes attending breakdowns, conducting preventive maintenance,

coordinating refueling activities, maintaining operational logs, and ensuring compliance

with safety and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate DG sets during power failures, load testing, and scheduled operations

• Ensure smooth changeover between utility power and DG power

• Monitor voltage, current, frequency, fuel level, temperature, and oil pressure

• Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance checks

• Attend DG breakdowns and coordinate with OEM/vendors

• Maintain diesel stock, consumption records, and refueling coordination

• Follow safety procedures and use PPE

• Maintain DG logs, service records, and reports

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with electrical and mechanical safety standards, pollution control

norms, use of PPE, fire safety systems, and statutory inspections related to DG operations.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, AMF panels, and control systems

• Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills

• Alertness and quick response during emergencies

• Ability to work independently and in shifts

Qualifications & Experience

ITI (Diesel Mechanic / Electrical / Mechanical) or equivalent with 1–3 years of experience in

DG operations or facility maintenance.

Mandatory valid Electrical License.

Working Conditions

Shift-based role including night shifts, weekends, and emergency call-outs. Exposure to

noise, heat, and fuel handling areas.

Performance Indicators

DG uptime and reliability, response time during power outages, PM compliance, fuel control

accuracy, and safety performance.
