Job Description
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of diesel generator (DG) sets.
- Attend DG breakdowns and carry out fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Execute scheduled maintenance as per the preventive maintenance (PM) plan.
- Perform engine servicing, including oil, coolant, fuel, and filter replacement.
- Inspect and maintain electrical and mechanical components of DG sets.
- Identify and rectify faults in engine, alternator, control panel, and electrical systems.
- Carry out safe startup and shutdown of DG sets following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor DG operating parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage.
- Conduct routine inspections to detect leaks, abnormal noise, vibration, or overheating.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, breakdown reports, and log sheets.
- Ensure minimum downtime by responding promptly to equipment failures.
- Coordinate with supervisors and site teams during emergency breakdowns.
- Follow safety procedures, use appropriate PPE, and comply with company HSE standards.
- Maintain proper housekeeping of the DG room, tools, and work area.
- Assist in installation, commissioning, and testing of new DG sets when required.
- Report spare parts requirements and assist in inventory management.
- Support load testing and performance testing of DG sets after maintenance.
- Ensure proper fuel handling and monitor fuel consumption.
- Perform emergency shutdown procedures during unsafe operating conditions.
- Work effectively in shifts and provide proper handover to the next technician.
