System Administrator

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage, monitor, and maintain Windows and Linux servers including installation, configuration, updates, and performance optimization.

2. Handle server and system hardware, including diagnostics, upgrades, component replacement, and capacity planning.

3. Manage network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, and network segmentation.

4. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls such as Fortinet, SonicWall, and similar platforms.

5. Deploy, manage, and monitor virtualization platforms including Proxmox, VMware, and Hyper-V.

6. Manage backup and disaster recovery systems, including Proxmox Backup Server, vSphere Backups, Altaro, and other enterprise backup solutions.

7. Administer managed switches (Cisco, D-Link, MikroTik, L1/L2/L3) including configuration, optimization, and firmware management.

8. Monitor system performance, uptime, and security using appropriate tools and implement improvements.

9. Diagnose and resolve system, network, and hardware issues promptly.

10. Implement and enforce security best practices, including firewall rules, patch management, access control, and endpoint protection.

11. Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.

12. Collaborate with internal teams to support business applications, user access, and daily IT operations.

13. Participate in planning and executing infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and expansions.

14. Hands-on experience with IPMI tools to monitor server health, identify faults, and implement necessary fixes.

15. Handle procurement activities, including identifying server/hardware requirements (RAM, CPU, storage components, etc.), collecting quotations from multiple vendors, evaluating pricing, and coordinating purchasing.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Strong hands-on experience in Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy) and Linux (Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, CentOS, Debian).

2. In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, WAN/LAN), routing, and switching.

3. Experience configuring firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAN/LAN, VPNs, and managing network security.

4. Expertise in virtualization, clustering, storage systems (SAN/NAS), and high availability setups.

5. Practical experience with backup technologies, retention strategies, and disaster recovery planning.

6. Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or similar) is an added advantage.

7. Ability to automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python (preferred).

8. Excellent communication and documentation skills.

9. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

10. Experience using monitoring tools (Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios).

11. Understanding of IT security compliance, audits, and zero-trust approaches.

12. Experience managing email platforms such as Microsoft 365 or Linux-based mail servers.

13. Good knowledge of load balancers, reverse proxies, and hosting environments.

14. Ability to manage IT asset inventory, licensing, and procurement processes.
