HPE Networking Business Unit, powered by the Aruba Networks, Juniper Networks and Axis Security portfolios, delivers secure, AI-driven networking solutions that connect users, devices, applications, and data across campus, branch, data centre, WAN, data centre, and cloud environments. HPE Networking BU enables organizations to modernize infrastructure through on-prem, hybrid and cloud-native management, automation, AIOps-driven operations, and high-performance wired, wireless, routing, and switching and security solutions, while supporting seamless hybrid work experiences with scalability, resiliency, and operational simplicity.

HPE Networking BU’s SASE and Security Group develops solutions that provide a unified, cloud-delivered architecture that combines networking and security capabilities for the modern edge-to-cloud enterprise. Management Level Definition:

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages exempt individual contributors and/or supervisors. Has accountability for the results of a major program in terms of cost, direction, and people management. Provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for the area of responsibility. Plans, manages, and monitors operational/tactical activities of the staff. Staff members' work may involve strategic issues. Recruits and supports the development of direct staff members. Typically reports to MG2 or Director. 

Additional guidance/criteria: Manages and controls activities within a single country or a sub-region which is part of a larger geographical Region; Manages at least 4 employees and typically between 8 and 15 direct reports. Span of Control guidelines may differ from these numbers.

We are looking for a Cloud Software Engineering Manager for our Next Generation Central, which is a unified AI-powered cloud network management platform. The candidate will participate in architecture and design discussions and develop scalable applications that run on top of Next Generation Central. We are looking for candidates with the following requirements:  

  

 

What you’ll do

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing, developing, and sustaining products, enhancements, and updates.
  • Plans and delivers features for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
  • Proactively identifies process improvement and cost reduction opportunities and achieves operational excellence through metrics and continuous learning.
  • Provides people management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting, and monitoring of performance goals, coaching, and career development.
  • Builds a best-in-class engineering team that delivers excellent results.
  • Advanced project management skills, including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring

What you need to bring:

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
  • Typically, 10+ years’ experience, including 0-2 years of people management experience.

Our Minimum Requirements for this Role Are 

  • Experience in implementing scalable cloud applications. 
  • Proven record of developing and releasing cloud applications in a production environment. 
  • Experience working with Product Marketing to understand requirements and translate those into design and implementation. 
  • Solid grasp of computer science/software engineering concepts, including: 
  • Common data structures 
  • Standard algorithms 
  • Object-oriented design 
  • Distributed computing 
  • Cloud computing paradigms 
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database (Postgres), NOSQL databases (Cassandra, Clickhouse, etc.), Graph database, and Redis 
  • Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ 
  • Experiences in deploying various techniques to ‘scale’ an application in a cloud environment. 
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and developing Microservices 
  • Demonstrated abilities to work with QA and Remote Teams. 
  • Experience in working with Agile Methodology. 
  • Experience and proficiency in developing in Python, Golang, and Java 
  • Previous experience in software management and working with Product Management on new software requirements and customer needs

Experience in any of the following will be considered a plus 

  • Good understanding of Networking Technologies, various networking protocols, L2, L3, and SDN concepts. 

  • Ability to contribute to multiple ‘technical programs’ simultaneously. 

  • Help build a team, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with other teams for developing new technologies. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge of cloud applications and related technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.
  • Advanced project management skills, including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.
