Director - GTS - Solution Lead
Roles & responsibilities
Power BI Solution Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing enterprise‑wide Power BI and analytics solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring scalable, secure, and high‑performance BI platforms that align with business objectives. The role also provides architectural oversight, stakeholder leadership, and mentorship across BI and data teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Solution Design
Lead the design and implementation of end‑to‑end Power BI solutions, including semantic models, dashboards, reports, and embedded analytics.
Define enterprise Power BI architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
Design scalable and performant data models, ensuring optimal use of DAX, Power Query, and tabular models.
Guide architectural decisions for data integration, refresh strategies, and performance optimization.
Governance, Security & Performance
Establish and enforce Power BI governance, tenant administration, and security standards (RLS/OLS, data masking).
Ensure compliance with enterprise data, security, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee capacity planning, licensing strategy, and performance tuning for Power BI environments.
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
Partner with senior business stakeholders to translate strategic requirements into BI and analytics solutions.
Act as a trusted advisor for leadership on analytics strategy, roadmap, and platform evolution.
Ensure consistent KPI definitions and enterprise reporting standards across business units.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay current with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure analytics services, and emerging BI trends.
Drive adoption of advanced Power BI features and modern analytics patterns.
Identify opportunities to improve self‑service BI while maintaining governance and control.
Define the enterprise‑wide Power BI strategy, architecture, and governance model.
Lead the design of scalable, secure BI solutions aligned with organizational data standards.
Establish best practices for data modeling, DAX optimization, semantic models, and report governance.
Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of Power BI solutions—from requirement discovery to deployment and production support.
Guide architects, data engineers, and BI developers in designing robust data pipelines and reporting solutions.
Review and approve complex data models, DAX measures, visuals, and performance tuning recommendations.
Partner with senior business leaders to translate strategic goals into BI initiatives.
Lead requirement workshops, prioritize backlog, and ensure delivery aligns with business KPIs and decision‑making needs.
Implement governance frameworks including workspace management, version control, data lineage, and CI/CD for Power BI.
Ensure adherence to data security policies, RLS/OLS implementation, and compliance with organizational standards.
Drive quality benchmarks for report design, usability, accessibility, and data accuracy.
Build capability through training, code reviews, reusable asset creation, and standardization across teams.
Drive adoption of advanced Power BI features including Fabric, Direct Lake, dataflows, smart narratives, and AI visuals.
Partner with data science teams to embed ML insights and predictive analytics into Power BI dashboards.
Evaluate emerging BI technologies and lead modernization initiatives.

Mandatory technical & functional skills
Advanced Power BI skills: data modeling, DAX, M queries, semantic models.
Expertise in Power BI Service (workspaces, gateways, deployment pipelines, security).
Strong experience with Power BI Premium, Fabric, DirectQuery, Direct Lake, Dataflows.
Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts (ETL/ELT, star schema, snowflake, incremental loads).
Hands-on skills with SQL (complex queries, optimization).
Experience with Azure data stack: Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Lakehouse, ADLS Gen2.
Strong grasp of data modeling techniques, data governance, lineage, and metadata management.
SQL Server, SSAS Tabular, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit, PowerShell for admin automation.
Exposure to Python/R (optional but desirable for analytics integration). Experience with visualization best practices and UX standards.

Educational qualifications
B. Tech (Computer Science / Information Technology) OR
MBA (Systems/ IT/Finance/ Data & Analytics/ SCM) along with Engineering (Computer Science, IT) OR
MCA (Master’s in Computer Applications)
Work experience
12+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Analytics, with 4–6 years in a Power BI Architect or senior leadership role.
Expert knowledge of Power BI (Desktop & Service), DAX, Power Query, and semantic modeling.
Strong experience with SQL and enterprise data platforms (on‑prem and/or cloud).
Proven experience designing and governing enterprise‑scale BI solutions.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
