Position: Senior Manager – GL Close-FP and A-Investment Accounting-Reg Reporting-Financial Accounting

Experience: 14+ Years

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager with 14+ years of progressive accounting and financial planning experience to lead financial operations and financial transformation projects. The successful candidate will oversee general ledger close processes, month-end accounting operations, investment accounting, and financial planning activities. The Senior Manager will lead finance transformation initiatives focused on General Ledger (GL) Close, FP&A, and Record to Report operations within Financial Services firms. This role requires a strategic manager with extensive process expertise and proficiency in technology platforms (e.g., Oracle, Workday, Adaptive, PowerApps) to drive significant value. The role requires leadership, stakeholder management, client engagement and team development capabilities to ensure organizational growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Chart of Accounts Mapping & Redesign: Design, implement, optimize Chart of Accounts structures that align with reporting requirements. Lead CoA mapping during ERP implementations, ensuring seamless data translation. Develop dimensional hierarchies and account coding standards to support multi-entity consolidation and reporting.
• Management of GL Close Activities: Lead and manage the complete GL close and month-end accounting cycles, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial statement preparation. Review journal entries, reconciliation procedures and account analyses to ensure financial statement integrity. Coordinate inter-company eliminations, consolidation adjustments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investment Accounting Operations Oversee investment accounting operations, including security transactions, valuations, reconciliations, and reporting. Prepare investment performance reports, reconcile investment holdings and manage regulatory compliance for investment portfolios.
• Transformation Initiatives: Support strategic finance transformation programs, including ERP implementations, system migrations, and digital process redesign.
• Comprehensive As-Is Assessments: Conduct detailed assessments of current Finance processes, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and finance close, utilize process mapping and modelling tools viz. Visio, ARIS and identify areas for improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Tax, Treasury, and Operations, to drive integrated finance transformation and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Technology Transformation: Establish automated close processes and eliminate legacy systems through process redesign. Implement advanced accounting platforms viz. Workday, Workiva, Blackline, Tagetik, Trintech and spearhead finance transformation initiatives.
• Team Management: Lead and develop high-performing accounting and finance teams across multiple locations. Establish performance standards, mentor senior staff. Foster collaborative culture promoting continuous learning and process improvement.

 

Key Skills:

• GL Close: General Ledger Management, Chart of Accounts Design and Month end close processes
• Investment Accounting: Strong experience in Investment Accounting, NAV calculations and securities management with valuation expertise
• Deep Understanding of FP&A Processes: Extensive knowledge of FP&A processes, including forecasting, budgeting, finance close, intercompany accounting, financial reporting standards, and management reporting.
• Finance Transformation: Proven experience in conducting As-Is and To-Be process assessments, process redesign and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Finance Systems Proficiency: Significant experience with Finance Systems such as Oracle EPM, Anaplan, Adaptive, Workiva, Workday, Blackline, Trintech, Tagetik and designing operating models that integrate people, processes, and technology.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, facilitating workshops, and translating complex business needs into actionable solutions.
• Team building:  Mentoring team members, establish performance standards, lead high-performing teams.

 

Education:

• Domain Expertise: Strong exposure to working in the Financial Services domain across Banking, Insurance, Asset Management, and Capital Markets.
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration. Advanced degrees (MBA or equivalent) are preferred. B.Tech or Engineering graduates with relevant work experience in finance or financial systems.

 

Experience Requirements:

• Extensive Experience: 14+ years of experience in finance operations, accounting, or transformation roles.
• Proven Track Record: A successful history of driving finance process improvements, optimizing close cycles, implementing automation, and ensuring compliance in GL Close, FP&A, and R2R functions.
