Job Description

Manager

KPMG Test Governance and Assurance Manager (Grade: C)

We are looking to recruit a Test Governance and Assurance Manager to join the KPMG Test Management Office, working on a large portfolio of exciting projects, as part of KPMG’s internal Testing Capability.

Reporting to the KPMG Head of Test Management Office, you will support project delivery by providing governance and test assurance services, ensuring that projects adhere to quality standards.

This role will cover internal projects but will work with our external client-facing QA capability to ensure alignment to industry best practice and standards, and the adoption of new and emerging skills, tools, and methods.

The Role

  • Collaborate with the Head of Test Management Office to update and enhance testing governance standards, policies, methods, and controls for consistent practices across all programmes and projects.

  • Perform independent evaluations of testing activities, plans, and deliverables to confirm that testing procedures align with QE and Testing Standards, regulatory requirements, and predetermined quality benchmarks.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Test Management Office, to build, track and report on an agreed cadence, testing KPI’s, quality metrics, risks and compliance.

  • Ongoing management of the test Governance and Assurance function to support internal project delivery

  • Champion quality standards and ensure they are understood across testing delivery teams within KPMG

  • Assurance of testing processes, strategy, approach, execution reporting, closure, and testing activities

  • Identifying and highlighting risks and opportunities for improvements

  • Carrying out internal reviews and delivery assurance across any aspect of the test delivery

  • Collaborating with the Consulting Test Practice to share good practice, tools, technologies and innovation

  • Managing Test Delivery Assurance specialists, providing leadership and coaching to ensure excellent delivery, whilst enabling future development

  • Ensure good practice in the delivery of testing services and the production of testing deliverables, with adherence to the KPMG Testing Standard, and alignment to the governance and assurance framework.

  • Working collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders to support and deliver testing services

  • Driving a culture of continual process improvement, to enhance quality and expand service offerings

  • Reporting metrics and KPIs, regarding governance and assurance activities (and project adherence to standards)

  • Applying appropriate methods to support Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, Waterfall, and other hybrid approaches

  • Act as an escalator of risks and issues to ensure timely and clear communication, mitigation and resolution.

  • Ensure governance and standards from the Test Management Office (TMO) are adhered to and championed.

  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap for KPMG’s internal testing capability.

The Person

  • An experienced testing professional, with experience of test delivery roles, including test assurance

  • Highly capable people manager, adept at building and coaching a team of professionals with the right mix of grades, skills, and experience to support delivery and project growth; you will be able to motivate people, build a ‘learn it all’ rather than a ‘know it all’ culture, and foster an environment in which everyone’s opinion is valued

  • Ability to develop and implement a test Governance and Assurance Framework to ensure the correct Quality Assurance and Quality Controls are in place to ensure effective, efficient testing across the project portfolio

  • Ensures testing activities are performed in accordance with established policies, processes and procedures with a consistent approach for reporting and escalation

  • Reviews identified issues, gains agreement on planned actions and provides strategic remediation paths for resolution, to support successful project delivery

  • Provides relevant metrics and dashboard reporting across the Testing Capability to senior stakeholders and represents the overall testing position in various senior forums

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence and build relationships

  • Solid problem solving skills, including the ability to analyse complex data, identify core issues, and investigate, evaluate, and reach appropriate conclusions

  • Excellent knowledge of the software testing and QA lifecycle, including knowledge and experience of manual, automated, functional, non-functional, and technical testing; ideally ISEB/ISTQB qualified

  • Broad experience of different types of technology change and testing projects, including software / applications, infrastructure, middleware, devices / end user computing, and digital / desktop services

  • Good understanding of test management tools, such as ALM, JIRA, Zephyr, and Azure DevOps

  • Broad range of tech experience, covering platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, ServiceNow, and Microsoft D365

  • You ensure effective meeting management to facilitate delivery progress and stakeholder engagement
