Manager - Developer (Jr Developer PBI)
Roles & responsibilities
The Power BI Manager (Individual Contributor) is a senior business intelligence expert responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering Power BI solutions that enable data‑driven decision making across the organization. This role does not manage a team but provides technical leadership, sets BI standards, partners with stakeholders, and ensures best‑in‑class analytics delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Power BI Solution lead & Development
Lead the end‑to‑end development of Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models.
Architect efficient star‑schema data models optimized for performance and scalability.
Write complex DAX measures and calculations following industry best practices.
Build reusable datasets and enterprise-grade reporting layers.
Optimize report performance using techniques like query folding, model reduction, and DAX tuning. Za
Data Integration & Modeling
Connect to diverse data sources (SQL Server, Azure SQL, Excel, APIs, cloud data platforms, etc.).
Collaborate with data engineering teams to define data pipelines and ensure input data quality.
Create and maintain metadata, data dictionaries, and KPI definitions.
Implement and maintain row-level security (RLS) and object‑level security (OLS).
Technical Leadership
Act as the go‑to Power BI expert for internal teams.
Mentor junior developers and provide code reviews, technical guidance, and best‑practice recommendations.
Drive Power BI adoption by conducting trainings, demos, and capability sessions.
Lead cross‑functional analytics initiatives and act as a consultant across departments.
Lead the design of scalable, secure BI solutions aligned with organizational data standards.
Establish best practices for data modeling, DAX optimization, semantic models, and report governance.
Guide architects, data engineers, and BI developers in designing robust data pipelines and reporting solutions.
Review and approve complex data models, DAX measures, visuals, and performance tuning recommendations.
Partner with senior business leaders to translate strategic goals into BI initiatives.
Lead requirement workshops, prioritize backlog, and ensure delivery aligns with business KPIs and decision‑making needs.
Ensure adherence to data security policies, RLS/OLS implementation, and compliance with organizational standards.
Drive quality benchmarks for report design, usability, accessibility, and data accuracy.
Build capability through training, code reviews, reusable asset creation, and standardization across teams.
Drive adoption of advanced Power BI features including Fabric, Direct Lake, dataflows, smart narratives, and AI visuals.

Mandatory technical & functional skills
6–10 years of experience in BI/Analytics with deep expertise in Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service.
Strong command of DAX, Power Query (M language), semantic modeling, and performance optimization.
Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
Experience with cloud data ecosystems such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, ADLS (preferred).
Strong understanding of governance, data lineage, dataset certification, and workspace management.

Educational qualifications
B. Tech (Computer Science / Information Technology) OR
MBA (Systems/ IT/Finance/ Data & Analytics/ SCM) along with Engineering (Computer Science, IT) OR
MCA (Master’s in Computer Applications)
Work experience
8-12 years of experience in Business Intelligence / Analytics, with 4–6 years in a Power BI Solution lead or senior lead role.
Expert knowledge of Power BI (Desktop & Service), DAX, Power Query, and semantic modeling.
Strong experience with SQL and enterprise data platforms (on‑prem and/or cloud).
Proven experience designing and governing enterprise‑scale BI solutions.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
