Manager – Indirect tax

Job Description (JD)

Key Job Responsibilities –

• Ownership of all GST compliances for all the 3M India entities
• Supporting Tax Leader in Indirect tax (IDT) audits & enquiries & litigations etc.
• Lead IDT litigations – (in person or online / faceless proceedings) (All legal entities of 3M in India )
• Supporting Tax Leader in Local GAAP tax closure – Quarterly / Annual – coordination with auditors and Finance team.
• Supporting Tax Leader in M&A , Business Unit queries on IDT impact.
• Advising 3M Business Units (all entities of 3M in India) on mitigation of IDT related risk in respect of Indian operations
• IDT process control and improvement focused on simplification, standardization, risk mitigation, tax cost, tax leakage, resource optimization, and compliance
• IDT planning, optimizing IDT cost from operations
• Pro-active management and ownership of litigations related to legacy IDT laws (VAT, Service Tax, CST, Excise, etc) for all 3M entities in India
• Liaise with and support the global shared service centres whose responsibilities include indirect compliance and audit support and are key part of the indirect tax function.
• Manage outsourced service providers where 3M requires additional technical, process or project support.
• Partner with the tax technology team to drive transformation projects and ERP implementations and ensure continued process optimisation and efficiencies.
• Supporting Tax Leader on any other matters related to IDT in India

Job Requirements

• In depth knowledge of India Indirect Tax regulations.
• Prior work experience of handling IDT compliance, audits and litigations.
• Proficient in working with external tax consultants including Big4s.
• Fluency in English.
• Well versed in stakeholder management.
• Qualified Chartered Accountant.
• 8 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role
