Job Description: Performance Testing Consultant Position Title: Performance Testing Consultant Department: Quality Engineering / Technology Location: Bangalore Employment Type: Full-time 1. Role Summary The Performance Testing Consultant is responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests for enterprise applications. The role ensures applications meet required performance SLAs, are stable under peak workloads, and can scale as business demand grows. The consultant will work closely with development, architecture, DevOps, and business teams to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend optimization solutions. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Performance Test Planning & Design • Understand business workflows, performance SLAs, and non-functional requirements (NFRs). • Identify test scenarios, test data needs, workload models, and peak load patterns. • Develop detailed Performance Test Strategy, Test Plan, and Test Scripts. • Define KPIs and performance acceptance criteria. B. Test Execution • Design and execute: o Load testing o Stress testing o Endurance/soak testing o Spike testing o Capacity and scalability testing • Simulate real-world user loads using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Neoload, Locust, etc. • Monitor system behaviour during execution (CPU, memory, DB performance, JVM/heap, network, I/O). C. Analysis & Reporting • Analyse application performance results to identify bottlenecks in: o Application layer o Database queries o API latency o Middleware o Network o Infrastructure • Provide actionable performance tuning recommendations. • Prepare executive summary reports for stakeholders with insights and risk assessment. D. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management • Work with Dev/Infra/DB teams to resolve issues and fine-tune systems. • Liaise with business teams to understand peak transaction volumes and future scaling requirements. • Support continuous performance testing as part of DevOps / CI-CD pipelines. 3. Required Skills & Experience Technical Skills • Strong hands-on experience in any major performance testing tool: o Apache JMeter o LoadRunner o Neoload o Locust • Proficiency in performance engineering concepts (latency, throughput, TPS, concurrency, heap analysis). • Experience with APM tools: o Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Grafana, Kibana • Deep understanding of: o Web services (REST/SOAP) o Microservices o Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) – preferred o SQL and database performance tuning o Linux/Unix fundamentals • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for root cause analysis. Domain Expertise (preferred but not mandatory) • Banking and Financial Services (Core Banking, Payments, Digital Channels, LOS, LMS). • Experience testing high-volume transactional systems. 4. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Computer Science or equivalent. • 4–12 years of hands-on experience in performance testing and engineering. • Certifications in performance testing or cloud platforms are an advantage. 5. Behavioral Competencies • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset. • Good communication and documentation skills. • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams. • Proactive, detail-oriented, and delivery-focused. 6. Optional Add-On Sections (I can add on request) • JD specifically for Flexcube performance testing. • JD for Senior / Lead / Architect roles. • JD with RACI. • JD aligned to Agile/DevOps environments.
