Job Description for DBA
MS SQL DBA experienced in both Onpremises and Azure cloud VM based SQL VM on Azure and Azure SQL PaaS
Experience in Azure VM based Database environment
Strong experience in Performance Query Optimisation
Monitoring and diagnosing SQL Server performance issues
Analysing and optimising slowrunning or resourceintensive queries
Interpreting and troubleshooting execution plans
Identifying and addressing missing unused or inefficient indexes and poor statistics
Strong experience and exposure to Database level Monitoring Diagnostics
Proactively monitor SQL Server environments to identify performance degradation and emerging risks
Diagnose and resolve database issues such as blocking deadlocks and resource contention
Experience in DB Server Database Health
Performing regular SQL Server health checks
Supporting performance tuning of ETL processes
Experience in DB Operational Resilience
Managing data retention strategies and handling historical data growth
Supporting release and change delivery activities
Mandatory Skills Experience
Strong experience working in dataheavy environments eg MI reporting analytics ETL
Proven expertise in administering Microsoft SQL Server
Advanced TSQL skills with the ability to analyse and optimise complex queries
Good understanding of data modelling concepts
Technical Competencies
Execution plan analysis
Index and statistics management
Troubleshooting blocking locking and concurrency issues
Use of DMVs and Query Store for performance analysis
