About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Team Lead professional to support and oversee financial crime compliance operations within a dynamic, high-growth crypto environment for a crypto client that is launching their compliance program.

This is a client-facing, player-coach role responsible for managing day-to-day operations across transaction monitoring, screening, and Travel Rule workflows. The role will initially support hands-on casework, including Level 1 alert reviews and Level 2 investigations— and transition into a program leader role focused on quality assurance, operational oversight, and stakeholder management.

Role and Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership & Oversight

• Oversee daily compliance operations across:
• Transaction Monitoring (Level 1 and Level 2)
• Name and counterparty screening
• Travel Rule validation workflows
• Manage alert queues, case allocation, and workflow prioritization
• Monitor SLA adherence, backlog, and case aging
• Coordinate delivery across onshore and offshore teams
• Perform initial alert reviews (Level 1) and complex investigations (Level 2) during onboarding and stabilization phases
• Support escalations and provide decisioning across:
• Transaction Monitoring alerts
• Screening matches
• Travel Rule exceptions
• Act as a subject matter expert across fiat and crypto investigations
• Identify and implement process improvements across
• Transaction Monitoring, Screening and Travel Rule workflows
• Enhance operational efficiency, quality, and scalability
• Support transition and expansion of new workstreams

Key skills & knowledge:

• 5+ years of experience in financial crime compliance (FCC)
• Strong experience in crypto compliance (required), including: Blockchain analytics investigations and Travel Rule compliance
• Strong understanding of AML/BSA regulatory frameworks
• Experience leading or supervising compliance operations teams
• Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring and investigations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• SLA adherence and operational efficiency
• Quality assurance scores and error reduction
• Effective escalation management
• Client satisfaction and stakeholder feedback
• Team productivity and consistency across global delivery
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• High attention to detail and quality standards
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and investigative mindset
