This individual will be responsible for providing  operational support for the Vendor Management Program by facilitating, developing and contributing to effective vendor management for a portfolio of vendors at Northern Trust. This role will interact with vendor managers as well as other internal teams involved in the TPRM (Third Party Risk Management) program in activities such as formulating goals, objectives, and timelines; collaborating with management to understand requirements; and analyzing market and industry conditions.

Uses expertise to provide guidance to others as a project manager or consultant. Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction

Job Description

·Primary responsibilities are to monitor and expedite resolution of due diligence items (IRQ, DDQ, Findings) to ensure no delays or extended aging of assessment activities happen. Assists in the Third-Party Risk governance framework in the 1LOD, with oversight and reporting to C&IS and Global Services Leadership on related risk and control profile, issues / incidents and any relevant emerging risks

·Supports work with Vendor Managers to ensure that Third Party Risk policies and guidelines are adhered to, and provide actionable support and guidance to the Business

·Escalates any concerning trends to Senior team members and / or Management. This may include (but not limited to) oversight and monitoring of emerging risks, weaknesses in controls and material change programs, deterioration in service / performance standards, and provide guidance on mitigating actions

·Assists in first level review of internal and external Third-Party Risk related events and issues, to ensure that the root cause is adequately identified and remediation actions are fit for purpose

·Assist in the support of local regulatory and audit engagements pertaining to Third Party Risk; this includes supporting remediation activities

·Assist in Third Party Risk awareness and risk management culture in order to ensure that the material risks are both evident and effectively managed

·Solves problems in straightforward situations

·Analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents

·Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team

·Works within guidelines and policies

Knowledge Skills

·Understanding of Third-Party Risk management principles, including experience with policy development, control definition, and application of controls in the business

·Knowledge of Third-Party Risk control environment

·Knowledge of corporate risk policies and standards on Third-Party

·Accustomed to data analytics tools and reporting including PowerBI

·Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work

·Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations

Experience Required

  • For internal applications - 24 months as Associate Consultant
    A College/University degree in Finance or Risk and/or other appropriate academic major is preferred,  or the equivalent 5-8 years’ experience of  procurement operations/buyer/customer service experience vendor risk management; experience with a public accounting firm and/or a supplier management / vendor management environment is preferred.

  • Certification such as ISO 27001 LA/LI is preferred
