Sampling Merchandiser

Role SummaryWe are looking for a Sampling & Product Development Merchandiser who will be responsible for managing the complete sampling process from enquiry to sample dispatch. The role involves coordinating with the sales team, production, sourcing, stores, and quality departments to ensure timely development of samples as per buyer requirements.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, fit, and factory coordination, with the ability to manage multiple developments simultaneously.

• Key ResponsibilitiesProduct DevelopmentUnderstand buyer requirements, tech packs, reference samples, and design briefs.
• Plan and execute the complete sampling process for new developments.
• Coordinate sample development from concept to final approval.
• Ensure samples are developed as per the required quality, measurements, construction, and finish.
• Cross-Functional CoordinationWork closely with the Sales & Marketing team to understand customer requirements.
• Coordinate with sourcing for fabrics, trims, accessories, and packaging materials.
• Liaise with production, cutting, stitching, finishing, and quality teams to ensure timely execution.
• Follow up with all internal departments to meet sampling timelines.
• Sample ManagementMaintain a sampling calendar and ensure all deadlines are achieved.
• Track every sample from request to dispatch.
• Ensure proper labeling, packing, and dispatch of samples.
• Maintain records of all sample developments and approvals.
• Product Development SupportSuggest suitable fabrics, trims, construction methods, and finishing techniques.
• Coordinate proto, fit, development, salesman, pre-production, and approval samples.
• Monitor revisions and ensure buyer comments are incorporated accurately.
• Documentation & ERPUpdate sampling status in ERP.
• Maintain sample registers, BOMs, and development records.
• Coordinate with relevant departments for documentation and approvals.
• Key SkillsGood knowledge of garment manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of fabrics, trims, garment construction, and measurements.
• Strong coordination and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage multiple developments simultaneously.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
• Preferred Experience2–6 years of experience in garment merchandising, product development, or sampling.
• Experience working with apparel manufacturers or export houses.
• Knowledge of knitwear/seamless garments is an added advantage.
