Setter Cum Operator

CNC Setter cum Operator to set up and operate CNC machines (CNC Turning center, Plastic Moulding Machine). They read blueprints, select tooling, input offsets, and execute programs. Ultimately, they ensure production targets are met with zero defects. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Secure workholding devices (vices, chucks), install cutting tools, and set proper offsets.
• Programming & Editing: Read and interpret engineering drawings. Edit G-code and M-code programs (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens controllers).
• Operation: Run the CNC machine through production cycles while regulating feeds, speeds, and coolant flow.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished components against design specifications using precision measuring instruments like Vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Maintenance: Perform daily machine cleaning, routine preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
• Safety: Maintain a clean workspace and follow health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or a relevant stream.
• Experience: Typically 1 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in CNC setting and operation.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of machining parameters (feeds, speeds) and tool life management.
• Soft Skills: Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to stand for long periods.
