Job Description

A Production Manager for a Fabrication & Machine Shop oversees manufacturing operations, ensuring seamless workflows across welding, heavy fabrication, and CNC machining. They are responsible for driving production targets, enforcing strict quality control, managing shop-floor manpower, and optimizing operational costs while strictly adhering to health and safety standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Production Planning: Execute daily and weekly schedules, aligning machine utilization and operator shifts with client delivery timelines.
  • Technical Oversight: Interpret complex engineering drawings, manage metal fabrication processes, and oversee CNC/VMC operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QC teams to perform root-cause analysis on defects and implement continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Supervise preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules to minimize machine downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA/local safety regulations, ensuring proper PPE usage, safe material handling, and clean shop floor standards.
  • Team Leadership: Manage shop floor personnel, conduct performance evaluations, and organize targeted skill-training programs
