Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality Engineer (Automobile Industry)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of automotive parts at customer/supplier locations
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, and quality standards
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, etc.)
• Handle customer complaints and quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality documents, and records
• Perform process audits and supplier quality audits
• Coordinate with production, suppliers, and customers for quality improvements
• Monitor and control rejection, rework, and PPM levels
• Ensure implementation of quality tools like 7 QC tools, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, etc.
• Support new project development (APQP, PPAP documentation)
• Train and guide inspectors/team members at site

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes (welding, stamping, assembly, machining, Fabrication)
• Hands-on experience with measuring instruments
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
• Knowledge of quality tools (7 QC Tools, 8D, Why-Why Analysis)
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer knowledge (Excel, reporting, documentation)
• Ability to handle customer interactions and site responsibilities

Qualification

• Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience

• 2 to 5 years in automobile industry or third-party quality services
