Job Description
About SuccessVisa
SuccessVisa is a fast-growing education and migration consultancy known for changing lives through expert guidance and support. With a strong commitment to integrity, transparency, and student success, we help individuals achieve their dreams of studying and settling abroad.
As we scale our brand presence across YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and emerging video-first platforms, we’re looking for a dedicated Senior Video Editor to take ownership of our video pipeline and turn raw footage into stories that move people to action.
About the Role
We’re looking for a craft-obsessed Video Editor who lives and breathes storytelling, pacing, and post-production. You don’t just cut clips together — you shape narrative arcs, design rhythm with sound, sweat the color grade, and use AI-assisted workflows to ship more, faster, without compromising quality.
You’ll own everything from short-form Reels and YouTube Shorts to long-form YouTube documentaries, student success stories, founder interviews, and brand films. You’ll work closely with our content, marketing, and counselling teams to translate complex migration journeys into clear, emotionally resonant videos.
This is a senior-leaning, hands-on role for someone who wants creative ownership, a high-output environment, and a meaningful mission.
Key Responsibilities
Storytelling & Editing
- Edit short-form (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) and long-form (YouTube, brand films, testimonials, webinars) videos end-to-end.
- Shape narrative structure: identify the strongest moments in raw footage, build story arcs, and craft hooks that retain viewers in the first 3 seconds.
- Drive pacing and rhythm through cuts, J/L cuts, B-roll layering, and music-driven edits.
- Translate counsellor interviews and student journeys into emotionally compelling narratives that build trust.
Motion Graphics & Visual Effects
- Design and animate motion graphics, lower thirds, kinetic typography, transitions, and animated infographics in After Effects.
- Build and maintain reusable templates and presets for a consistent SuccessVisa visual language.
- Integrate on-screen text, callouts, and data visualisations that improve comprehension and retention.
Sound Design & Audio
- Mix and master dialogue, music, and SFX for clean, broadcast-ready audio across platforms.
- Apply noise reduction, EQ, ducking, and de-essing; design soundscapes that elevate the emotional tone of every cut.
- Source and licence music and SFX responsibly.
Color Grading
- Perform primary correction and creative color grading to establish a cohesive look across all SuccessVisa content.
- Build and apply LUTs; match shots from multiple cameras and lighting conditions.
- Maintain technical compliance (broadcast-safe levels, correct color space) for each platform.
AI-Assisted Video Workflows
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate editing: auto-transcripts and text-based editing, smart reframing, denoise, upscaling, voice cleanup, generative B-roll, and AI-driven rough cuts.
- Prototype creative concepts using generative video models (Runway ML, Pika Labs, Sora, Kling) where it strengthens the story.
- Continuously evaluate new AI tools and integrate them into the team’s post-production pipeline.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Partner with content strategists, scriptwriters, and counsellors to plan shoots and shape edit briefs.
- Manage media ingest, organisation, proxies, backups, and version control across multiple active projects.
- Deliver platform-optimised exports (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) on time, every time.
- Mentor junior editors and review their work where applicable.
Tools & Technologies
Core Editing & Post-Production
- Adobe Premiere Pro — expert level (primary NLE)
- Adobe After Effects — strong proficiency (motion graphics, compositing, expressions)
- DaVinci Resolve — working knowledge of color grading and Fairlight (a plus, not required)
- Adobe Audition or equivalent — audio cleanup and mix
- Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator — asset prep, thumbnails, basic graphic support
AI Video & Audio Tools
- Runway ML — generative video, inpainting, motion brush, green-screen
- Pika Labs — generative B-roll and stylised motion
- Sora — generative video for concept and pre-viz
- Descript — text-based editing, Overdub, Studio Sound, transcription
- CapCut & CapCut AI — fast-turnaround social edits, auto-captions, AI effects
- ElevenLabs — voice cloning and AI voice-over (where appropriate and disclosed)
- Topaz Video AI — upscaling, denoise, frame interpolation
AI Image, Writing & Productivity
- Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion — reference frames, thumbnails, concept art
- ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini — scripting support, hooks, structure, ideation
- Frame.io, Notion, Trello, Google Drive — review, feedback, project tracking
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of professional video editing experience, with a strong portfolio across short-form and long-form content.
- Expert command of Adobe Premiere Pro and strong proficiency in After Effects.
- Demonstrated ability to edit for storytelling — you can articulate why a cut works, not just how it was made.
- Solid grasp of color theory, color grading workflows, and audio post-production.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI tools into a real production pipeline.
- Sharp sense of pacing, typography, and visual hierarchy in motion.
- Excellent file management, naming conventions, and ability to deliver under deadline.
Nice to Have
- Experience with DaVinci Resolve color grading.
- Cinema 4D, Blender, or other 3D tooling for motion design.
- On-set experience: lighting, framing, audio capture.
- Experience editing for a YouTube channel that crossed meaningful subscriber or watch-time milestones.
- Background producing content in the education, migration, or B2C services space.
Portfolio Requirements
Your portfolio is the most important part of your application. Please share a reel or a curated set of links that includes:
- A 60–90 second highlight reel showcasing your best work.
- 2–3 short-form videos (Reels, Shorts, or TikToks) — ideally with strong hooks and retention.
- 1–2 long-form YouTube edits (5+ minutes) — documentary, interview, or narrative format.
- 1–2 motion graphics samples (title sequences, kinetic typography, animated infographics, or lower-third systems).
- 1 before/after color grade comparison — raw footage on the left, your final grade on the right.
- 1 before/after audio sample, if available — raw dialogue vs. cleaned and mixed.
- A short note (3–5 sentences) on one project where you used AI tools meaningfully — what you used, why, and what changed.
Tell us your role on each project (sole editor, lead editor, assistant, motion designer) so we can evaluate your contribution accurately.
