ACCOUNTANT
Curious Foods Pvt Ltd • Chennai
Full-time, on-site • ₹20,000 to 35,000 / month (based on experience)
About us
We are a growing restaurant group in Chennai running three outlets Foodaholic (Padur and Sholinganallur) and Trupthi Veg (SIPCOT). We are building proper finance and control systems across all three, and we are looking for a sharp, reliable Accountant to be the backbone of that.
The role, in one line
Own the day-to-day accounting for all three outlets keep the books clean, keep every payment controlled and matched, and give the owners a clear monthly picture of each outlet. You report to the Finance Head and work closely with the Store In-charge, the outlet managers, and our Chartered Accountant.
What you'll do
- Maintain each outlet's books separately in accounting software (Tally;Zoho Books a plus).
- Reconcile daily cash against the POS, and match card / UPI / delivery-app collections to the bank.
- Check every supplier bill: match the goods received (GRN) and the invoice, validate the price against the rate-list, and flag anything odd before it is paid.
- Prepare payments for the Finance Head's approval, and release them under bank maker–checker.
- Handle the Sholinganallur-to-Padur central-kitchen billing at cost, settled monthly.
- Run monthly payroll and remit PF, ESI and TDS on time; support GST filing with our CA.
- Do bank, vendor and stock reconciliations every month.
- Prepare each outlet's monthly profit & loss and close the month on time.
- Track food cost %, wastage and cost variances, and keep the compliance/licence tracker current.
- Manage petty cash and keep a clean, audit-ready set of records.
What we need (must-have)
- B.Com or M.Com, with 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience.
- Strong, practical Tally skills; comfortable with GST, TDS, PF and ESI.
- Good with Excel and with reconciliations.
- Sharp eye for detail — you notice when a number doesn't add up.
- Complete honesty and reliability — you'll handle cash and payments.
- Comfortable working across multiple locations and with cash-heavy operations.
Nice to have
- Restaurant, hotel, or retail accounting experience.
- Zoho Books, and experience reconciling a POS.
- Experience helping set up accounting systems from scratch.
- Tamil and English.
What success looks like in 6 months
- The books are up to date every day, for every outlet.
- No supplier is paid without a matched GRN and a price check; no duplicate payments.
- Each outlet's monthly P&L is ready within a few days of month-end.
- Cash is fully reconciled — no unexplained differences.
Being honest about the role
This is a hands-on job in a business that is still putting its systems in place. You will help build the process, not just follow one. It suits someone who likes bringing order to a busy, cash-heavy, multi-outlet operation — not someone who wants a quiet single-ledger desk.
Compensation & details
₹20,000–35,000 per month based on experience, plus PF/ESI as applicable. On-site in Sholinganallur,Chennai.
