Job Description
Job Title: Export & Import Business Development Manager
Location:
Industry: Export-Import / Logistics / Manufacturing
Experience: 3-7 years in EXIM BDM role[City]
Role Overview:
We are looking for a results-driven Export & Import Business Development Manager to expand our global trade operations. The BDM will identify new international markets, develop buyer/supplier relationships, and drive export-import revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Sales
- Identify and onboard new overseas buyers, distributors, and agents for export
- Source new overseas suppliers/vendors for import
- Achieve monthly/quarterly export-import sales targets
- Negotiate pricing, terms, MOQ, and contracts
2. Market Research & Strategy
- Conduct market research for product demand, competitor pricing, and trade regulations
- Develop market entry strategies for new countries/regions
- Track global trade trends, tariffs, and FTAs
3. Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with buyers, suppliers, freight forwarders, CHA, and banks
- Handle client queries, quotations, and follow-ups
- Ensure smooth documentation and after-sales support
4. EXIM Operations Coordination
- Coordinate with operations/logistics team for shipments, LC, shipping docs, and compliance
- Ensure proper documentation: PI, SI, BL, COO, IEC, GST, FSSAI, Phytosanitary etc.
- Work with freight forwarders, customs house agents, and banks
5. Reporting
- Maintain CRM, sales pipeline, and weekly reports
- Forecast demand and prepare export-import budgets
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s in BBA/MBA/International Business/Commerce. Diploma in EXIM preferred
- Experience: 3+ years in Export-Import sales and business development
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of EXIM policy, DGFT, IEC, Incoterms, shipping, and payment terms
- Skills: Negotiation, client handling, market analysis, MS Office, CRM tools
- Languages: English fluency mandatory. Knowledge of other languages is a plus
- Travel: Willing to travel domestically and internationally for exhibitions/client meetings
