Duties

General

1

Maintains

established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality

assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

2

Writes

initial nursing histories, assesses patients’ conditions and develops

individual care plans for patients assigned to the unit.

3

Administers

and controls narcotics and medications.

4

Maintains

a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patient/families in

accordance with hospital standards.

5

Keeps

patient records current; maintains patient records and charts to ensure an

accurate record of the patient’s medical treatment.

6

Orients,

instructs, and trains assigned personnel.

7

Co-operates

with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good

employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control

policies.

8

Inspects

area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and

standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.

9

Assists

attending physicians and aids patients and families as needed in times of

stress or crisis.

10

Prepares

patients for scheduled procedures and to assist in patient assessment.

11

Monitors

medical condition of patients closely on keen observation and handling

emergencies and reports changes to appropriate personnel.

12

Observes

emotional stability of patients, expresses interest in their progress and prepares

for continuing care after discharges.

13

Assists

other members of the nursing team and/or other disciplines.

14

Assists

physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to

direct patient care.

15

Demonstrates

sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.

16

Arranges

for patients’ ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services.

17

Ensures

an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.

18

Receives

and transfers patient following procedures.

19

Assists

physician during procedure, monitors and continues care for patient after

procedures and assist in emergencies occurring prior / post or during the

procedure.

20

Enhances

professional growth and development through participation in educational

programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.

21

Performs

other related duties as assigned or requested.

CathLab

1

Assesses, utilizing age

specific data, the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and spiritual status in

a comprehensive manner

Performs initial assessment

and completes required documentation within organizational standards.

Handling

consent forms, filing document with patient records

4

Reviewing

patient documents, maintaining and operating facility equipment, monitoring

patient health status and scheduling appointments to follow the health plan.

5

Must

have basic knowledge of the job of a Cath lab nurse as in preparing patients

for catheterization, angioplasty and pacemaker implantations.

6

Must

assist physician in the catheterization, angioplasty and pacemaker

implantations processes.

7

 responsible

for the provision of safe and effective care of the patient having invasive

or non-invasive special procedures

8

Monitoring

patient vitals and sedation during and after procedure to make sure patients

don’t have unexpected reactions
