Deputy Manager - Sustain Design

Responsible for executing design activities across BorgWarner’s global engineering centers in collaboration with international design teams. Key duties include:
 Developing and adapting design concepts using advanced CAD tools based on customer and engineering input.
 Creating accurate 2D drawings and 3D models, including assemblies, layouts, and stack-ups.
 Utilizing CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, and Unigraphics NX for product design.
 Supporting CAE efforts through simulations, technical guidance, and component/system development.
 Leading CAE user groups to share knowledge, solve problems, and promote best practices.
 Demonstrating creativity, strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and tolerance management.
 Fostering team collaboration, taking initiative on challenging tasks, and mentoring junior engineers.

R & R:

Execute engineering design tasks (3D/2D modeling, drawings, documentation) using CAD tools like SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX, AutoCAD, etc.

• Apply GD&T (ISO Standard / ASME Y14.5M) per automotive standards; convert legacy 2D to 3D models; convert legacy 2D drawings to 3D models.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams and customers to support design-related activities and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Utilize Product Data Management (PDM) tools like Teamcenter for efficient document and data management.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
• Ensure compliance with BorgWarner standards, confidentiality, and quality systems.
• Mentor peers; review and check drawings to meet FTR (First Time Right) targets.
• Perform basic analysis using CAD layouts, stack-ups, and FEA tools.

Participate in safety audits, incident reporting, and 8D closure processes.

Education:

• Gender: Both Male and Female are preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical; Production; Automotive; electrical & Electronics; Electronics & communication; Mechatronics engineering.
• Minimum of 10 - 12 years in mechanical design, 3D modeling, and drawing release
• Expert in SolidWorks with proven experience working on complex 3D components and configuration models.
• working knowledge of Creo, UG, Catia, and analysis tools
• Strong expertise in GD&T as per ISO Standard / ASME Y14.5M, drawing interpretation, and Microsoft Office tools
• Injection Molding and Plastic Design Expertise in the automobile domain
• Experience in casting design and manufacturing processes; understanding of casting–machining relationships
• Familiar with tooling, pattern making, and casting methods (sand, permanent Mold, investment)
• Knowledge of Cooling fans is a plus.
• Exposure to iron casting technology, tooling, and international standards
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required
