Job Description

Oracle Hyperion Administrator

The RS&W Hyperion Administrator is responsible for the daily operational excellence, maintenance, and technical execution of the financial planning system. While serving as a reciprocal backup to the Business Owner, this role focuses on the efficient execution of established processes, data integrity management, user support, and the technical implementation of changes defined by the business roadmap. This position ensures the system is available, accurate, and responsive to user needs during critical financial cycles.

1. System Operations & Maintenance
•    Month-End & Year-End Close: Execute the technical close processes, including tracking inbound data streams, rolling up actuals, and calculating labor rates for forecasts.
•    Cycle Management: Manage the "12+0 Close" and budget update processes; ensure accurate synchronization of exchange rates and currency alignments (USD/LCL).
•    Metadata Management: Execute metadata updates based on kickout reports and business requirements; manage shared metadata for alternate hierarchies.
2. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
•    Data Integrity: Investigate data flow errors and troubleshoot disconnects using SQL queries in RS&W and IMPRS staging tables.
•    User Support: Respond to ad-hoc business requests, troubleshoot user-specific issues, and manage user provisioning/access rights in compliance with audit documentation.
•    Testing: Perform thorough Quality Assurance (QA) testing on structural changes and updates to ensure system stability.
3. Reporting & Development
•    Report Generation: Develop and maintain reports and forms to support business analysis.
•    Data Transfer: Monitor and validate data transfers (inbound/outbound) between Planisware and Hyperion, correcting disconnects in the staging environment.
4. Process Execution
•    Internal Controls: Support Internal Control requests and initiatives by providing required documentation and system evidence.
•    Backup Capability: Maintain full knowledge of the Lead Business Owner’s duties to serve as a capable backup during absences, ensuring business continuity.

Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience administering Oracle Hyperion EPM applications (Planning and Essbase) in a corporate environment.
Database Experience: Proven experience with SQL (Structured Query Language), including the ability to write complex queries to investigate data flow errors and validate staging tables.
Technical Proficiency

Hyperion Administration: Deep understanding of Hyperion Planning and Essbase, including metadata management, application tuning, and managing dimensions/hierarchies.
Scripting & Calculation: Experience maintaining and modifying calculation scripts, business rules, and member formulas to support financial logic (e.g., labor rate calculations).
Reporting Tools: Advanced proficiency in Oracle Smart View and Hyperion Financial Reporting (HFR) for creating forms and ad-hoc analysis.
Integrations: Experience managing data integration and data movement between systems (ETL processes). Experience specifically with Planisware-to-Hyperion integration is a strong plus.
Functional & Operational Knowledge

Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of financial cycles (Month-End/Year-End Close, Budgeting, Forecasting) and accounting concepts (Currency Conversion/FX rates, General Ledger alignment).
Process Management: Demonstrated ability to manage strict operational timelines (e.g., "12+0 Close") and ensure system availability during critical windows.
Compliance & Security: Experience managing user provisioning (Shared Services), security groups, and maintaining documentation for Internal Controls/SOX compliance.
Soft Skills & Competencies

Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot data integrity issues ("kickouts") and resolve technical disconnects between staging environments.
Communication: Ability to translate technical system issues into business language for stakeholders and provide high-quality user support.
Adaptability: Capability to act as a reciprocal backup to the Business Owner, requiring a holistic understanding of both the technical system and the business strategy it supports.
