Shift Engineer

Role Purpose

To ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of fully automatic PLC-based and pneumatic production machines through disciplined preventive maintenance, precise alignment, and continuous improvement — following the Kaizen and 5S principles of manufacturing excellence.

Core Equipment Responsibility

Fully Automatic Ultrasonic Welding Machine

Automatic Gas Filling Machine

Automatic Flame Adjustment Machine

Automatic Sticker & Label Pasting Machine

(All machines are PLC-controlled and pneumatic-driven.)

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation & Maintenance

Monitor and maintain all PLC-based and pneumatic automation systems for stable operation.

Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance as per defined schedule.

Perform alignment, calibration, and precision adjustments for ultrasonic welding heads, gas filling, and label placement mechanisms.

Replace worn or damaged parts and maintain proper documentation.

Ensure machine uptime, process stability, and safety compliance at all times.

2. Maintenance Planning & Documentation

Prepare and execute a maintenance calendar for all automatic equipment.

Maintain detailed records of breakdowns, repairs, and part replacements.

Manage machine spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are available at all times.

Prepare periodic reports on maintenance activities, downtime, and improvement actions.

3. Quality & Process Control

Maintain high process quality in welding, gas filling, and labeling operations.

Work closely with the QA team to ensure BIS and internal standards are consistently met.

Apply Poka-Yoke and Root Cause Analysis (Why-Why Analysis) to eliminate repetitive issues.

4. Workplace Discipline & Team Leadership

Lead machine operators by example in maintaining discipline, punctuality, and correct working methods.

Conduct clear shift handovers with proper documentation of machine and production status.

Promote a culture of responsibility, respect, and teamwork on the shop floor.

5. Implementation of 5S

Maintain workplace organization and efficiency through 5S principles:

Sort: Keep only necessary items and remove what’s not needed.

Set in Order: Arrange tools and materials systematically for quick access.

Shine: Clean machines and workspace daily to ensure safety and detect abnormalities.

Standardize: Define consistent cleaning, inspection, and organization procedures.

Sustain (Discipline): Maintain good habits, discipline, and continuous improvement.

6. Continuous Improvement (Kaizen)

Identify small but meaningful process improvements in quality, efficiency, and safety.

Participate in Gemba (on-site) reviews to observe, learn, and improve daily operations.

Assist in updating SOPs and developing operator training material.

Qualifications

Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

2–5 years of experience with PLC- and pneumatic-based automation systems (assembly or FMCG).

Technical expertise in Ultrasonic Welding, Pneumatic Circuits, Sensors, and PLC controls.

Sound understanding of Preventive Maintenance, 5S, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke.

Proficiency in maintenance documentation and Excel / ERP systems.
