Job Description SQL Database Engineer ITSS Managed ServicesPosition Overview
The SQL Database Engineer will be responsible for the administration support and optimization of SQL Server databases across Client Group entities This role ensures data integrity availability performance and compliance while supporting both corporate and industrial environments under the ITSS shared services model The engineer will play a key role in application support backuprecovery patching and disaster recovery readiness
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
oInstall configure and maintain SQL Server databases across production test and development environments
oManage schemas indexes stored procedures and database objects
oPerform upgrades patching and security hardening in line with ITSS standards
Performance Monitoring
oMonitor database health performance and capacity
oConduct proactive tuning and query optimization to meet SLAKPI requirements
oImplement automation for monitoring and reporting
Backup Recovery
oManage backup strategies archiving and disaster recovery processes
oEnsure compliance with ITSS continuity and audit requirements
oSupport DRaaSIaaS solutions provided by Client Holding
Incident Problem Resolution
oProvide L2L3 support for SQL databaserelated incidents
oConduct root cause analysis RCA for recurring database issues
oCollaborate with Application Support Agents and Infrastructure Engineers for integrated operations
Governance Compliance
oAlign database operations with ITSS governance cybersecurity and audit requirements
oMaintain accurate documentation of configurations changes and operational reports
Continuous Improvement
oIdentify opportunities for automation in provisioning patching and monitoring
oRecommend improvements to enhance performance reduce costs and improve resilience
Required Skills Competencies
Strong expertise in SQL Server administration 201620192022
Knowledge of TSQL query optimization and performance tuning
Familiarity with enterprise backup systems disaster recovery frameworks and high availability solutions Always On Clustering Replication
Experience with ITSM tools ServiceNow Remedy or equivalent
Understanding of ITIL processes Incident Problem Change Capacity Availability
Strong troubleshooting analytical and documentation skills
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or related field
6 8 years of experience in SQL Server database administration
Certifications preferred Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator Associate SQL Server DBA certifications ITIL Foundation
Experience in enterprise IT environments and missioncritical applications is an advantage
Performance Metrics
SLA compliance for incident resolution and database availability
Reduction in downtime and SQLrelated incidents
Accuracy of backup recovery and compliance reporting
User satisfaction scores for applicationdatabase services
Audit and governance adherence
