Retail Staff

Key Responsibilities

1. Store & Floor Operations

Coordinate all grocery floor operations: opening/closing, cleanliness, safety, merchandising

Execute planograms 100% and maintain merchandising standards throughout the day

Rotate stock per SOP, check expiry dates, and minimize waste

Set up promotional displays and ensure pricing is accurate

Ensure back-up/storage areas are organized and all stock is represented on floor 

2. Inventory & Stock Management

Monitor stock levels, conduct gap scans for out-of-stocks/overstocks

Place orders with suppliers, receive deliveries, check and account for merchandise

Process IDTs, reduced-to-clear, and stock reports via SAP/Excel

Escalate continuing stock issues to Store Manager  

3. Staff Supervision & Training

Hire, train, schedule, and supervise grocery floor staff

Assign daily tasks, evaluate performance, and coach team members

Keep staff motivated, informed of targets, and maintain a positive work environment

Handle employee requests, complaints, and resolve conflicts  

4. Customer Service

Handle customer complaints, inquiries, and special requests

Advise customers on products and ensure high satisfaction

Role model professional, courteous service 

5. Sales, Finance & Compliance

Drive sales, implement merchandising strategies, and meet department targets

Monitor expenses, waste, and ensure budget adherence

Ensure health & safety, legal, and company SOP compliance

Maintain equipment and general store maintenance standards 

6. Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: 2-4 years retail/inventory experience, prior supervisory role preferred

Education: High School Diploma/GED minimum; degree a plus

Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, multitasking, communication, inventory systems like SAP/Excel

Physical: Ability to remain upright and move throughout floor during shift

Knowledge: Grocery operations, merchandising, stock rotation, POS systems
