Deputy Manager – Quality Assurance

Job Description: We are seeking a highly technical and quality-focused professional to lead the development and execution of Quality Assurance systems for a greenfield paper and packaging manufacturing facility. This is a critical founding-team role responsible for establishing robust quality processes, customer quality systems, inspection standards, audit readiness, and compliance frameworks from the initial setup stage.

The role requires strong expertise in paper and packaging materials, manufacturing quality systems, process controls, and certification standards. The candidate will work closely with production, operations, and leadership teams to establish a scalable quality culture that aligns with international manufacturing and customer expectations. This position is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in structured manufacturing environments who are capable of setting up quality systems, driving process discipline, managing customer quality requirements, and preparing the organisation for global compliance certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Process Quality Management

• Establish and monitor in-process quality checkpoints
• Drive reduction in rejection rates and improve first-pass yield
• Implement process quality controls across production stages
• Ensure adherence to defined quality parameters and standards

2) Customer Quality Assurance

• Handle customer complaints and ensure closure within defined timelines
• Lead Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
• Prepare quality documentation required for customer approvals and audits
• Coordinate with production and operations teams for issue resolution

3) Quality System Development

• Develop and implement SOPs and quality procedures
• Create incoming, in-process, and final inspection standards
• Establish batch traceability and documentation systems
• Build sustainable quality monitoring frameworks

4) Certification & Compliance

• Support the development and implementation of ISO 9001 systems
• Prepare the plant for compliance certifications such as:
• BRCGS
• USFDA
• OK COMPOST
• FSC
• Conduct internal audits and maintain audit readiness
• Ensure documentation compliance across departments

5) Lab Setup & Quality TestingSupport establishment of QA laboratory systems

• Define minimum and maximum quality parameters
• Conduct batch testing and maintain quality records
• Prepare internal and customer-facing quality reports

6) Team Development

• Build and structure quality inspection teams
• Conduct technical training programs for shop-floor teams
• Develop a process audit and quality ownership culture

Desired Candidate Profile:

• B.Sc / B.Tech / Diploma in a relevant field
• 6–10 years of experience in Manufacturing Quality Assurance
• Strong technical understanding of paper and packaging materials
• Experience in printing, packaging, FMCG packaging, or process industries preferred
• Knowledge of quality certifications and audit systems
• Experience in structured manufacturing environments
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a greenfield plant setup
