JOB TITLE: CNC/VMC Operator cum Setter

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a skilled CNC/VMC Operator cum Setter to join our production

team. The candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC turning

and VMC milling machines to produce precision components as per engineering

drawings and quality standards. The role demands practical expertise in machine

setup, tooling, offset setting, and in-process inspection to ensure consistent,

defect-free production across shift operations.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Machine Setup

- Set up CNC/VMC machines for new jobs — tool mounting, insert selection,

 and tool holder assembly.

- Set work offsets (G54–G59), tool length offsets, and tool radius compensation.

- Mount and align fixtures, clamps, and workholding devices for correct datum

 and rigidity.

- Load and verify programs at the controller; perform dry run and single-block

 execution before live cutting.

- Conduct first-article inspection after setup; adjust offsets to achieve

 dimensional conformance before releasing for production.

Machine Operation

- Operate CNC turning and VMC milling machines across shift schedules.

- Load/unload workpieces safely, ensuring correct positioning and clamping

 each cycle.

- Monitor tool wear, chip formation, and surface finish; make offset corrections

 as required.

- Change worn inserts and cutting tools; re-verify dimensions after tool change.

- Maintain consistent output as per daily targets with minimal downtime

 and rejections.

In-Process Quality

- Perform dimensional checks using vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges,

 height gauges, and other precision instruments.

- Identify and report dimensional deviations or surface defects immediately.

- Record inspection results in job cards and inspection sheets per QMS norms.

Housekeeping & Safety

- Maintain machine and work area cleanliness as per 5S standards.

- Follow all safety protocols — PPE usage, safe tool handling, machine guarding.

- Report machine alarms, abnormalities, or maintenance needs to supervisor

 promptly.

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

- ITI (Machinist / Turner) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

- 3–8 years of hands-on CNC/VMC operation and setup experience.

- Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi CNC controllers.

- Ability to read basic engineering drawings and interpret tolerances and

 surface finish callouts.

- Proficient in precision measuring instruments.

- Basic G-code understanding; ability to make minor edits and offset

 adjustments at the controller.

- Willing to work in day/night shift rotation.

- Physically fit, safety conscious, and quality oriented.
