The Engineering Intern will support the Yield Engineering team in data analysis, yield monitoring, basic failure pattern identification, and other assigned projects. This role provides hands‑on exposure to semiconductor manufacturing, including Fab and sort, and yield improvement methodologies under close mentorship of experienced engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in data analysis to identify yield trends and anomalies
- Support wafer map review for basic failure pattern recognition (edge, cluster, random, probe‑related)
- Help prepare yield summary reports, charts, and dashboards
- Support engineers in data cleaning, bin analysis, and parametric trend tracking
- Participate in root cause analysis discussions and document findings
- Assist in maintaining process documentation, presentations, and training material
- Learn and follow quality, safety, and data integrity standards
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Fab, Test, Yield, Product) under supervision
- Work on assigned project which will improve either or both of cycle time and quality.
Learning & Exposure
During the internship, the intern will gain exposure to:
- Wafer Fab and sort flow and objectives
- Basic probe testing concepts
- Yield metrics (Yield %, Bin Yield, Scrap, D0 concepts)
- CTSQ / CTQ awareness (conceptual level)
- Semiconductor manufacturing lifecycle
- Professional engineering documentation and communication
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in:
- Electronics & Communication
- Electrical Engineering
- Instrumentation
- Semiconductor / Microelectronics (or related discipline)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Basic understanding of semiconductor fundamentals
- Familiarity with Excel / basic data analysis tools
- Willingness to learn and work in a support manufacturing environment (including 24x7)
Preferred Skills (Good to Have)
- Exposure to semiconductor devices or fabrication coursework
- Basic knowledge of statistics or yield concepts
- Familiarity with Python / JMP / MATLAB (optional)
- Ability to create clear slides and technical summaries
