Job Description: Production Supervisor – Molding Department

Reporting To: Production Manager / Plant Head

Job Location: 525, Udyog Kendra 2, UPSIDC Site A, Ecotech III, Greater Noida, Habibpur, Uttar Pradesh 201306

Job Purpose

The Production Supervisor – Molding Department is responsible for supervising daily molding production activities, ensuring production targets are achieved as per plan, maintaining product quality, reducing rejection and downtime, controlling manpower, and ensuring safe working practices in the molding area.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

The supervisor must check the daily production plan and ensure machines are running as per priority. He should coordinate with the Production Manager for production targets, raw material availability, mold availability, and manpower planning.

He is responsible for ensuring that production is completed on time with minimum wastage and maximum machine utilization.

2. Machine & Mold Monitoring

He must monitor molding machines during production and ensure proper machine settings are maintained, such as:

• Temperature
• Pressure
• Cycle time
• Cooling time
• Injection speed
• Mold clamping

He should also ensure molds are properly fitted, cleaned, and handled carefully during mold changeover.

3. Quality Control

The supervisor must check product quality during production and ensure that defective products are not passed to the next process.

He should monitor common molding defects such as:

• Short molding
• Flash
• Burn marks
• Shrinkage
• Warpage
• Black spots
• Size variation
• Weight variation
• Surface defects

He must coordinate with the QC/IPQC team for approval before starting bulk production.

4. Rejection & Wastage Control

He is responsible for reducing rejection percentage and scrap generation. He must identify the reason for rejection and take immediate corrective action.

He should maintain proper records of:

• Production quantity
• Rejection quantity
• Scrap quantity
• Machine downtime
• Mold change time
• Material consumption

5. Manpower Handling

The supervisor must allocate operators, helpers, and workers machine-wise. He should ensure all workers are following proper work instructions and safety rules.

He must guide operators regarding product checking, packing, trimming, and handling methods.

6. Raw Material & Mixing Control

He should ensure correct raw material, color master batch, regrind material, or additives are used as per product requirement.

He must avoid wrong material mixing and ensure material is issued and consumed properly.

7. Shift Management

The supervisor is responsible for smooth shift operation. He must give proper handover to the next shift supervisor, including:

• Running machine status
• Pending production
• Quality issues
• Mold or machine problems
• Material shortage
• Rejection details

8. Maintenance Coordination

If any machine breakdown, mold issue, cooling issue, hydraulic problem, heater issue, or electrical fault occurs, he must immediately inform the Maintenance Department.

He should follow up until the machine is restarted.

9. Safety & Housekeeping

The supervisor must ensure proper safety in the molding area, including use of PPE, safe mold handling, machine guarding, and proper material storage.

He must maintain 5S and housekeeping around machines, raw material area, scrap area, and finished goods area.

Required Experience

Minimum Experience: 3 to 5 years in molding / injection molding production

Preferred Industry: Plastic molding, packaging, manufacturing, automotive parts, FMCG packaging, plastic components

Qualification

Minimum Qualification: ITI / Diploma / Graduate

Preferred Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical / Plastic Processing / Production Engineering
