Data Engineer (GCP + Big Data)

About the Role

Synechron is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Hive, Spark, and Python. This role focuses on building scalable, reliable data pipelines and delivering high‑quality data solutions for business‑critical applications. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and resilient data pipelines on GCP following industry best practices
• Perform data ingestion, transformation, and processing using Hive, Spark, and Python
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding and data quality standards
• Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize business impact
• Stay up to date with emerging data engineering technologies and contribute to platform enhancements and process improvements
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members, as required

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 6–8 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering or related roles
• Strong experience working with cloud-based and distributed data platforms
• Proven ability to deliver end-to-end data solutions in production environments
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery models

Technical Skills

Must Have

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Apache Spark
• Hive
• Python
• Data pipeline development and ETL / ELT processes

Good to Have

• Understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
• Experience with version control and collaboration tools such as Git
• Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
