Location: Sagar Multipupose Storage Private Limited, Jayshree Complex, Alampur, Howrah

Role purpose

Fully in charge of the mechanical health of the facility — keep material handling equipment, cold room doors, and all non-refrigeration plant assets running, and act as the single point of accountability for overall maintenance and repair across the site.

Key responsibilities

Material handling equipment (MHE)

• Carry out and supervise repair, servicing, and preventive maintenance of reach trucks, BOPTs, stackers, and forklifts, including battery management and charging systems.
• Diagnose and address corrosion-related failures common to wet/cold operating environments (e.g. cradle, mast, and chassis deterioration), and implement preventive protection measures.
• Manage MHE spare parts inventory and coordinate AMC/warranty work with OEMs (Toyota and others).

Cold room doors and building envelope

• Repair and maintain automatic and manual PUF sliding doors, including motors, drive mechanisms, sensors, and tracks; minimise downtime on deep-freeze door failures.
• Maintain dock levelers, air curtains, strip curtains, and rapid-roll doors.
• Inspect and maintain PUF panel integrity (walls, ceilings, joints), addressing infiltration, condensation, and ice ingress points.

General plant and overall accountability

• Maintain pumps, motors, conveyors, structural fittings, plumbing, and flooring; manage floor ice buildup and drainage issues.
• Build and run a preventive maintenance schedule across all mechanical assets, with logs, checklists, and breakdown records.
• Manage external vendors and contractors, review repair quotes for technical validity and fair pricing, and supervise contracted jobs.
• Maintain critical spares inventory and raise timely procurement requests.
• Enforce safety standards during all maintenance work.

Qualifications & experience

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech Mechanical a plus).
• 5+ years in plant/facility maintenance, ideally in cold storage, warehousing, FMCG, or heavy manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with MHE (reach trucks/forklifts) is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with industrial doors, hydraulics, and electrical-mechanical systems.

Core skills

• Strong fault diagnosis and hands-on repair ability.
• Vendor and AMC management; ability to scrutinise quotes critically.
• Documentation discipline (maintenance logs, spares registers).
• Supervisory ability to direct technicians and contractors.
