Hospital Pharmacist

JOB DESCRIPTION – JUNIOR PHARMACIST

1 Dispense OT and ICU medications (surgical medications) as per requirements.

2 Process and close any pending billing tasks.

3 Ensure proper filing and closure of narcotic records in compliance with

regulations.

4 Coordinate with the housekeeping staff for regular cleaning of the pharmacy

and dusting of racks to maintain hygiene.

5 Ensure all medicines are arranged systematically in their respective boxes and

racks for easy access.

6 Dispense medicines as per doctors’ prescriptions efficiently.

7 Provide detailed instructions to patients regarding the dosage and usage of

prescribed medications.

8 Explain the prescribed medications' usage clearly to patients to avoid any

confusion or errors.

9 Perform routine checks of crash carts and report findings to the HOD.

10 Prepare and submit the physical report of near-expiry medicines to the HOD,

ensuring a 90-day advance notice before expiry.

11 Address any pharmacy-related issues by promptly reporting them to the HOD.

12 Participate in audits to ensure compliance with hospital policies and

pharmaceutical standards.

13 Assist in billing processes when patient flow is low to support administrative

tasks.

14 Delegate tasks assigned by senior pharmacists and the HOD effectively.

15 Ensure that at closing time, one junior pharmacist is present along with the

senior pharmacist to finalize the day’s operations.

16 Maintain a team structure where each senior pharmacist is supported by two

juniors—one for picking medicines and another for rechecking stock before

dispensing.
