Automation Engineer (Playwright) with JavaScript/TypeScript and Selenium/Appium Experience

Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Automation Engineer with expertise in Playwright to join our Quality Assurance team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our testing processes through automation, ensuring high-quality software products. The successful candidate will contribute to the organization’s business objectives by developing reliable automation frameworks, troubleshooting issues, and driving continuous improvement in testing practices.

Software Requirements

  • Required:

    • Playwright (latest stable version) with hands-on experience

    • Programming languages: JavaScript or TypeScript

    • Version control systems: Git

    • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

  • Preferred:

    • Selenium, Appium, or TestNG (for diversified testing needs)

    • Test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)

    • Other automation tools or frameworks as applicable

Overall Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing scripts using Playwright to validate web applications

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers and business analysts to identify testing requirements and translate them into automated tests

  • Write comprehensive test plans, test cases, and detailed bug reports to support quality assurance efforts

  • Contribute to code reviews ensuring adherence to best practices and automation standards

  • Participate in continuous learning initiatives to stay current with emerging testing automation tools, practices, and trends

  • Support the establishment of automation frameworks and enhance test coverage to improve detection of defects early in the development lifecycle

  • Programming Languages:

    • Required: JavaScript or TypeScript

    • Preferred: Python, Java

  • Frameworks and Libraries:

    • Required: Playwright

    • Preferred: Selenium, Appium, TestNG

  • Development Tools and Methodologies:

    • Basic understanding of data handling and validation

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in software testing and automation

  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining automated test scripts specifically using Playwright

  • Demonstrated experience with testing frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or TestNG is advantageous

  • Experience with programming languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript

  • Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment is preferred

  • Portfolio or previous work samples showcasing automation projects is desirable

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Develop and continuously improve automated test scripts aligned with project requirements

  • Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings to synchronize testing efforts

  • Review test results, identify bugs with detailed reports, and work with developers for issue resolution

  • Perform maintenance and updates to existing automation frameworks

  • Ensure the automation suite runs effectively within CI/CD pipelines and report on test outcomes

  • Engage in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered as an alternative

  • Certifications in test automation or software testing (e.g., ISTQB) are a plus

  • Participation in relevant training or professional development activities

  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in automation practices
